What's the best way to progress my bench press this summer?

TL;DR: Looking for tips to break through a bench press plateau.

Yo, I've been hitting the bench hard for about a year now and I'm looking to hit a solid PR before summer. I'm running a PPL program but feel like I've hit a plateau lately. Should I switch up my rep ranges or maybe add some paused reps? Any tips for breaking through this funk would be sick.

Have you thought about incorporating some accessory lifts? Like tricep extensions or rows? They can help build the muscles that support your bench press.

Hitting a plateau can be frustrating, but switching your rep range is a solid move. Try incorporating some 3-5 rep sets for strength, and maybe throw in some paused reps to build control at the bottom of the lift. Also, don't forget to check your form; sometimes small tweaks can lead to big gains.

Bro, it's all about the mind-muscle connection! If you're feeling fatigued or unfocused, that could mess with your lifts. Maybe some lighter weight to focus on form?

I once hit a plateau on bench for months, and switching to a 5/3/1 program totally revived my gains! Sometimes it just takes a change in perspective or method. Keep pushing!

Just remember, it's a marathon, not a sprint! Don't stress too much about the PR. Enjoy the process, and the gains will follow

It's important to track your progress too. Writing down your lifts helps identify patterns or weaknesses. If you can pinpoint where you struggle, you can address it specifically.

Organizing your workout schedule can help you stay on track! Plan those rep ranges in advance. You'll be surprised how much focus that can bring.

I'm with you on the plateau struggle. I just added some paused reps, and it felt like a mini reboot for my lifts. Have you tried that yet?

Lowkey, if you're not recovering enough, that could be why you're plateauing. Don't forget to chill and let your muscles repair!

If you're stuck, consider a deload week. It can give your body time to recover and reset your progress. Then hit it hard again after!

Switching up your rep ranges could be a fun way to shock your muscles! Maybe try 3x8 for a bit instead of 4x10. Plus, who doesn't love a good PR?

Facts! Changing things up can really spark progress. Just last week, I tried a drop set for the first time, and it totally kicked my butt! If you're looking for something fun, you could even try benching with a Swiss ball, feels super weird, but great for stability.

For real, bro, mixing up your routine is a must! I was stuck too until I started doing incline bench and added some heavier accessory work. Oh, and don't skip the food, I'm bulking and those extra calories have made a world of difference for my lifts.

Consider adding paused reps, they're great for building strength out of the bottom. You can also incorporate some tempo work to improve your control. Just remember to focus on your form!

Using different rep ranges can indeed help, but don't overlook the importance of progressive overload. Aim to increase weight or reps each week, even if it's just a small increment. Research suggests that both volume and intensity play a role in strength progression.

100% agree with mixing it up! My buddy did paused reps and smashed his PR. Gotta keep it interesting, or it gets boring.

As a vegan powerlifter, I can say that nutrition plays a huge role. Make sure you're getting enough protein, maybe try some tempeh or lentils if you're struggling.

I disagree with the rep change if it's just for a short time. Sometimes sticking to your routine and just increasing weight can be more effective. Consistency is crucial.

Don't be afraid to ask a gym buddy to spot you. Sometimes just having that extra support can make all the difference. Plus, you can push harder with a friend!

Don't forget to stretch before and after! It sounds basic, but tight muscles can really hinder your strength. Flexibility is key.

Honestly, switching things up is key! I added some incline bench and it was like unlocking a new level. Don't forget to eat big, that helps too!

I've seen great success with high-rep days mixed in. Like, doing 10-15 reps occasionally can help endurance and strength. Just make sure to listen to your body!

Have you tried benching in different locations? Changing up your gym can be refreshing and sometimes gives you that extra push. Just a thought!
