Cardiac event recovery and lifting transformation! Any tips?

TL;DR: Lost 20 lbs and boosted my deadlift from 225 to 285 lbs in 6 months post-cardiac event.

So, after a cardiac event, I committed to strength training and a plant-based diet. It's been 6 months, and I'm down 20 lbs, my deadlift went from 225 lbs to 285 lbs, and I'm feeling stronger than ever! 馃挭 I've been sharing some vegan recipes that keep my energy up during workouts. Anyone else going through something similar? What's worked for you in recovery and lifting?

It's incredible that you're prioritizing your health after a cardiac event. Recovery is such a personal journey, and strength training can be a great outlet. I find that balancing lifting with family time helps keep my stress in check, so maybe look into some family-friendly workouts too.

As someone who's all about endurance, I have to say that strength training is such a smart addition to your routine. If you mix in some cardio with your lifting, it could enhance your recovery even more. Maybe try alternating your lifts with some light jogs or HIIT sessions.

You know, it's never too late to embrace a healthier lifestyle! I started lifting in my late 50s, and I still feel so much stronger and more energetic. Your journey can inspire others. Just remember that every small victory counts, so celebrate those little wins!

Dude, that's awesome! Going from 225 to 285 is no joke. For real though, caffeine is my secret weapon before lifts. Just don't go overboard or you'll be too jittery to hit those PRs.

Bro, you're killing it! I mean, 20 lbs down and a huge deadlift PR? That's savage. Just be sure to add some hypertrophy work to complement your strength training. Don't neglect the aesthetics while getting those gains!

This is so cool! I just started lifting too, but hearing your story makes me want to push harder. Any tips for a newbie? Like what should I focus on first?

Plant-based diets can absolutely provide everything you need for recovery. But just be mindful of your protein sources, especially post-workout. Include a variety of legumes, nuts, and seeds to cover all your bases. And yes, don't forget hydration; it's often overlooked!

First of all, massive props for your progress! Strength training and a plant-based diet can really be a power combo. If you're looking for more fuel, try adding some chickpeas to your post-workout meals. They pack protein and fiber!

I'm really inspired by your commitment! A plant-based diet can definitely support recovery, especially with antioxidants and healthy fats. Have you tried meal prepping? It saves time and helps you stick to your goals. Also, don't underestimate the power of legumes for protein, great for strength gains!

If you're focused on recovery, tracking your nutrition can be key. Apps like Cronometer can help ensure you're getting all your vitamins and minerals. Just be cautious about relying too heavily on apps, intuitive eating can work for some too, but you gotta find what fits you best.
