Anyone else try 16:8 IF for a year while lifting? What's your take?

I jumped into the 16:8 intermittent fasting train for a whole year while trying to balance lifting and dad life. I thought I was hitting my protein targets pretty well, but my body comp didn't change much and my lifts felt kinda stuck. I mean, is this just a dad thing, or are my macros off? Anyone else been through this?

I'm not buying the whole IF hype. Just track your intake and adjust based on ur results. If your macros are off, that's on you, not the fasting. Keep it simple, man.

I think intermittent fasting can work for some, but I personally prefer calisthenics with a flexible eating schedule. If you're lifting, you might need to adjust your eating windows or increase your protein intake to break those plateaus

Honestly, intermittent fasting had me feeling like I was just existing. I tried it for a while too, but I felt like a zombie some days, lifting weights but never really fueling my body right. Maybe being a dad is a part of it, but it could also be that your body needs more than just hitting macros, especially when you're lifting hard.

Bruh, if your lifts feel stuck, it might not just be the fasting. You could be under-recovering. If you're not eating enough before or after your sessions, it's like trying to start a car with no gas! Also, dad life is a workout too, don't forget that.

This! Balancing dad life and lifting is tough. But if your body comp isn't changing, maybe look at your overall calorie intake or even your training routine. Are you mixing up your lifts? Sometimes a little change can lead to better results.

If you're serious about ur gains, I'd suggest tracking with something like MacroFactor. I'm on a cut right now and logging everything has been super helpful. It's all about finding that right balance with your diet and workouts.

Honestly, i tried this too! I was hitting my workouts between kids' nap times and honestly, it felt like I was juggling more than just weights. Sometimes, being a dad means you need to just eat a sandwich and call it a win for the day.

100% agree! Balancing it all is tough. But if you ever get to the point where your lifts are feeling stale, you might want to try a deload week or switch to a different program, like PPL or something. Sometimes, freshening it up helps.

Fr, this is relatable! I'm not lifting heavy or anything, but I can barely keep my fridge stocked with enough food. Trying to eat in an 8-hour window while managing kids? No cap, it's a struggle!

Bro, if you're just lifting and not seeing progress, maybe try lifting with your kids? They weigh like a ton! That's like a workout and dad duty all in one! 😂

You know, managing food and workouts while running after kids is a marathon in itself. I always tell my kids that the goal is to make it to the finish line, so why not apply that to your lifting too? Try not to overthink it.
