Behind the neck press, dangerous or fine?

i've been curious about the behind the neck press lately, but I keep hearing mixed opinions. Some say it's fine if done right, others act like it's the devil's workout. What's the verdict? Anyone had success or disaster with this? Let's hear your takes!

The behind the neck press can be a valuable tool in your arsenal if done with proper form and awareness of your body's limits. It's essential to maintain a neutral spine and not force your range of motion. I suggest starting with light weights to ensure you don't strain your shoulders or neck. As with any exercise, it's important to listen to your body. If it feels off, don't push it.

Facts. It's not worth risking your shoulders just to impress someone in the gym. Stick to what works for you, and if behind the neck press isn't in your wheelhouse, leave it out. I focus on incline and overhead presses instead.

I used to do behind the neck presses, but I found they made my shoulders feel weird. Switched to standing military presses, and my lifts went up without the pain. Might be worth a change if you're feeling sketchy about it.

Yep! I tried it once, but felt like I was about to pop my shoulder out. Now I just chug caffeine before my lifts, keeps me pumped without the risk.

Honestly, I used to do them all the time, but I realized they don't really add anything special to my routine. I switched to seated overhead presses and my shoulders feel way better now. Just something to think about.

This shit's like the squat of upper body exercises, bro. Just avoid it unless you wanna look like a pretzel. 😂

In my day, we didn't have fancy exercises like this. We just lifted heavy and got the job done. Behind the neck presses can work, but it's easy to hurt yourself if you're not careful. You gotta know your limits, especially with compound movements.

I've heard mixed things too! I personally stick to the front and side presses, feels safer and more effective for my shoulders. Just my two cents!

Right? The risk isn't worth it, especially when there are safer alternatives. I'll keep my focus on power cleans and snatches. Way more fun.

Ngl, I tried the behind the neck press once and my shoulders were screaming. I really think it can be risky for a lot of people, especially if you don't have great shoulder mobility. Just stick to regular presses, it's safer.
