Is there solid research on dairy and acne? Looking for the real evidence.

TL;DR: Looking for solid research on dairy's connection to acne, any peer-reviewed studies?

I've been hearing mixed opinions on whether dairy actually contributes to acne. I came across Schoenfeld's work, but it doesn't seem to dig deep into dairy's specific effects. Does anyone know of any peer-reviewed studies that show clear connections? I'm a busy mom just trying to figure out if cutting dairy might help my skin issues without the hype.

Cutting dairy might help some people, but I've seen others have no effect at all. Everyone's skin reacts differently, so it could be worth trying for a month. Just make sure you're still getting enough calcium and nutrients.

I've noticed my skin gets worse when I consume more dairy. I cut it out for a month, and it made a difference.

There's some evidence that suggests dairy can increase insulin levels, which might contribute to acne. I remember reading a study that linked milk consumption to acne severity, but it was a while ago. I can try to find the link if you want!

i totally get where you're coming from. I've been curious about dairy too and how it affects my skin.

You know, I used to drink a lot of milk and had terrible breakouts. After cutting it out, I saw a noticeable improvement. It might be worth a shot for you, especially if other things haven't worked.

There's been some research linking dairy consumption to acne, particularly milk. It's thought that hormones in milk might be the culprits, but results vary widely among individuals.

Just do what works for u! And if dairy isn't it, then peace out. Don't let that cheese hold you back.

Ngl, my skin cleared up a bit when I stopped drinking milk. I switched to almond milk and felt better overall. It might not be the answer for everyone, but it's an easy switch to try.

This is a classic case of 'everyone's different.' I tried cutting dairy for a week once, my skin looked the same, but my pizza cravings skyrocketed. Not sure if worth it, lol.

I used to have a lot of dairy and had terrible skin! Now I'm on oat milk and feel way better overall. Might be worth trying for your skin issues

So true, I tried oat milk too and my skin was like, 'thank u, next.' Just remember, the true test is if your kids will still eat their cereal

Totally agree! It's all about finding what works for you. Some people swear by dairy, while others just can't catch a break. Experimentation is key.

There are some interesting studies out there! One showed that high dairy intake can lead to increased IGF-1 levels, which is associated with acne. You might want to check out the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology.

Some dermatologists suggest a low-glycemic diet for acne, which often means reducing dairy. You might find a combination of dietary changes really helps.

Honestly, the whole dairy-acne debate is a bit messy. I like to experiment in the kitchen, so I swapped regular yogurt for coconut yogurt, and my skin has been happier! You might want to try some dairy alternatives.

Another thing to consider is how dairy can trigger inflammation. If you notice breakouts after having dairy, it might be your body telling you something. Journaling your diet could help you pinpoint it.

I get really passionate about this stuff! If you end up cutting dairy, just make sure you're getting your calcium from other sources. Leafy greens, anyone?

Plus, remember that acne can be caused by so many factors, stress, genetics, diet. It's a process. Tracking your food and skin changes might help you see patterns

It's interesting how different people react to dairy. I know some bodybuilders swear by Greek yogurt for protein but then complain about breakouts. It really is a personal journey, so experimentation could help you figure out what works for you.

Facts! If you're gonna cut dairy, just make sure u're not missing out on your protein. You can still get it from sources like chicken, fish, or even plant-based options. Keep that muscle up!

Dairy and acne? Sounds like the plot twist of a rom-com. But for real, I read somewhere that some people react to dairy like I react to cardio, just avoid it.

As a dad, I've tried to go dairy-free once. All I got was a few grumpy kids because I couldn't make them mac and cheese. But my skin felt better. So, win-win?

Facts! Dairy might be ruining your glow-up. I hit a PR in avoiding dairy, and my skin was popping for a while. Just gotta stick to it.

Gotta admit, dairy might be the villain in this story. I mean, I switched to almond milk and my skin cleared up a bit. Maybe it's time for a little dairy break?

Just to add, if you're cutting out dairy, don't forget to check labels on non-dairy options too! Some might have added sugars that aren't great for skin either.

Good point about added sugars! I'm always on the lookout for that in my food, especially with the kids around.

From what I've seen, some studies show that skim milk is worse than whole milk regarding acne. The hormones in dairy might be the culprit, especially with how they affect our skin. If you want a real deep dive, check out the research from the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology.

Skill issue if you can't drop the dairy! Just kidding. It's tough but worth it. Who knows, you might end up loving oat milk as much as I do
