Has anyone else stuck with overnight oats for 90 days? My breakfasts have been stable and satisfying!

TL;DR: I've stuck to overnight oats for 90 days for breakfast, hitting 40g protein and feeling stable and satisfied. Any similar experiences?

I can't believe it's been 90 days since I committed to overnight oats for breakfast every day! As a busy mom of three, it was a game plan to streamline my mornings and get my macros in check. I've been hitting around 40g of protein every morning with my oats, and it's kept me full until lunch. The kids even enjoy them, which is a bonus.

I've tried different toppings and mix-ins, but sticking to a base recipe has helped me maintain my nutrient targets without feeling overwhelmed. I alternate between Greek yogurt, almond milk, and chia seeds for a nice protein boost. I feel like my energy levels are stable, and my runs are feeling strong lately. Anyone else finding their groove with a consistent breakfast? I'd love to hear your experiences!

That's so awesome! I did something similar with overnight oats, and they became a staple during my marathon training. It's so nice to have something nutritious ready to go. I love mixing in berries and a scoop of protein powder for an extra boost.

Gotta say, I respect the commitment! I hit 60 days on oats, but I felt like I plateaued. Switch it up sometimes, keep those taste buds guessing! Add nuts or different fruits.

I've been hitting those oats too! 90 days is impressive, but let's be real, if you want to build muscle, don't skip those eggs. I'm talking scrambled with your oats! It's a protein powerhouse.

Overnight oats are solid, but have you ever tried meal prepping your whole week in advance? I mean, it's one less thing to worry about, and you get to hit your macros effortlessly. Just a thought

Overnight oats are a classic! I make them with almond milk and top with chopped apples and walnuts. It's a great combo for taste and texture. You could also try adding some pumpkin puree in the fall for a seasonal twist!

That's awesome to hear! I've also found sticking to a routine helps, especially when juggling kids. I like to prep my overnight oats with a scoop of protein powder and top it with berries. The kids love adding peanut butter too, it's a win-win.

I can relate to the time crunch! I'm adapting my meals due to my health stuff, and overnight oats have been such a lifesaver. If you want more protein, try adding some protein powder or even cottage cheese. It mixes in nicely!

I've been trying to keep my breakfasts consistent too. Oats are cool and all, but sometimes I swap them for protein pancakes on weekends. Just gotta keep it fresh, u know?

u/spoonie_lifter·

Totally get that. I used to struggle with meal prep because of my illness. Finding simple recipes like overnight oats has made it easier. Just have to get creative with ingredients to keep it fresh.

For real, this is a solid breakfast choice! I tried it and ended up forgetting about it in the fridge once. Woke up to a mystery oat mush. 😂 Do you ever switch it up for lunch or dinner?

u/zombielifter·

You know what, I tried overnight oats once, and I was not impressed. Maybe I did it wrong? Or maybe I just prefer my oats cooked. Who knows? At least I get my protein in with my other meals.

Honestly, 90 days of the same breakfast sounds a bit bland. I get it helps with macros and stuff, but I'd lose my mind eating the same thing every day. I mean, even a dark humor-loving guy like me needs variety! Can't we at least mix it up a little?

3

I've been thinking about doing something like this too. I love to add a bit of cocoa powder and banana for a chocolatey vibe! I've also tried using almond butter instead of peanut butter, and it's a solid swap.

2
u/zombielifter·

Not sure how you do it. I'd forget about them and end up with a weird oat science experiment. 😂 How do you keep track of the macros, though? Do you use an app?

u/dadbod_passion·

Bro, your kids eat them too? That's a win! I tried feeding my kids healthy stuff, but they're like 'where's the sugar?' 😂 I'll have to try your recipe, though.

i've been running marathons for years, and having stable breakfasts like that is crucial. I stick to oatmeal and nut butter myself, but it's all about how you feel. If the oats keep your energy up for your runs, that's what matters!

u/gains_4_days·

Ngl, i think you could be doing better. Overnight oats sound great but have you ever thought about getting creative with them? Like, adding different spices or flavors? It can rly spice things up.

u/thecraftychef·

I totally agree with the base recipe strategy. It makes mornings so much easier! I usually add a dollop of almond butter on top and some banana slices for a bit of sweetness. Here's a recipe I love: 1 cup oats, 1 cup almond milk, 1/2 cup Greek yogurt, a tbsp of chia seeds, and your choice of toppings. It's super filling and keeps me energized!

7

Consistency in your diet is just as important as in your training. I always emphasize tracking macros, especially when I'm cutting. I've used MyFitnessPal before, and it's great for keeping tabs on what I eat. Gives you a better idea of your protein intake.

6
u/marathonmom_42·

For those trying to hit protein goals, I found tracking with MacroFactor really helps. The app is super user-friendly, and you can easily keep tabs on your protein intake. It's made my meal planning so much smoother!

Oats are cool and all, but if you're going for variety, have you thought about other quick breakfasts? Smoothies are great too! You can throw in spinach, fruit, and protein powder, and it's done in 2 minutes.

I love overnight oats! My base is rolled oats with almond milk, Greek yogurt, and a scoop of protein powder. I mix in different fruits like berries or banana and top with a little nut butter. It keeps breakfast interesting, and I get my protein in while being creative. If you're ever feeling adventurous, try adding some cinnamon or cocoa powder for extra flavor!

21
u/zombielifter·

Bro, I tried making them and ended up with a soggy mess. I think I added too much milk. Guess I'm better off with my protein shakes. This is my life now, lol

14
u/runninglateagain·

This is so relatable! I'm also a busy mom, and mornings can be chaos. I usually grab a banana or some yogurt on the go. Overnight oats sound great, but I don't have the patience to prepare them the night before. Skill issue, maybe?

11
u/thecraftychef·

I also love to prep overnight oats for my kids! They enjoy customizing their own toppings, and it's a fun breakfast activity. Plus, I'm pretty sure they think they're getting dessert in the morning with all the added fruits!

1
u/dadbod_passion·

This is inspiring! My mornings are a chaotic race, but maybe I'll give overnight oats a shot. I usually just shove a protein bar down my throat while chasing my kids. Could be a better start to the day, lol.

8
u/spoonie_lifter·

You know, I have a chronic illness that makes mornings tough, but I've adapted with my own versions of overnight oats. I sometimes add protein powder and even some spinach for extra nutrients. It helps a lot with my energy levels!

20
u/spoonie_lifter·

Tracking works for some but not for everyone! I prefer intuitive eating to avoid that stress. But if you find comfort in logging, more power to you! It's all about what helps you stay consistent.

24
u/chickenncarrots·

Sounds like you found a solid routine! I like using Cronometer for tracking. It gives me a full breakdown of nutrients, and I love that I can customize meals. Have you tried anything similar?

5

Agreed! Making it a fun morning ritual can make such a difference. I sometimes do a mini competition with my kids to see who can make the best oat mix! Keeps breakfast lively and engaging.

16
u/chickenncarrots·

Overnight oats are a great way to start the day! I usually add some chopped nuts and honey on top. It's like a treat for breakfast. Keeps it interesting and delicious!

7
u/marathonmaniac99·

I've never tracked my food, just gone by feel. But I can see the appeal for sure! My brother tracks everything, and he swears by it for hitting PRs. It seems like it works for a lot of people.

30
u/depressedlifter·

Isn't it funny how we think of certain foods as boring? I used to think oatmeal was just for diet culture, but now it's a staple for me. You gotta find the fun in it, right?

7
u/depressedlifter·

I used to think oatmeal was for old people or something, but they're actually so good for you. They really fill you up. If you add a scoop of protein, that's a full meal. Who knew my breakfast could be so adult-like?

7
u/dadbod_passion·

Honestly, I tried overnight oats and it was a hard pass for me. They just didn't vibe with my taste buds, you know? But if it works for you, then go for it. I just prefer a protein smoothie with spinach and peanut butter.

7
u/powerliftingpaul·

The protein content sounds solid! When I was doing my bulking phase, I loved mixing my oats with whey and Greek yogurt. It's a great way to hit those protein targets early in the day. Have you tried adding peanut butter powder? It adds flavor without too many calories!

6
u/gains_4_days·

Honestly, overnight oats are lit! I tried it for a bit but got lazy with the prep. Did you ever switch it up with different flavors? Like chocolate or PB?

6
u/thecraftychef·

I'm so glad you're enjoying your overnight oats! I love to mix in shredded coconut and cinnamon for some extra flavor. You can also switch it up with different fruits. Last week, I added peaches and it was a game-changer. Honestly, they're so versatile!

5
u/gains_4_days·

Yep, overnight oats are fire! I usually switch it up by adding different fruits or even some chocolate chips if I'm feeling fancy. But the consistency is clutch. I mean, not thinking about breakfast in the morning is the dream.

170
u/marathonmaniac99·

The key is making it work for your schedule! If you can make it the night before, it's a great hack. Plus, you can prep a few jars for the week. Keeps your breakfast game strong.

6
u/gains_4_days·

Ngl, I'm a huge fan of MacroFactor. It's just easy for tracking and helps with meal ideas too. I'm thinking about giving overnight oats another go, but I don't want to feel like I'm in a breakfast rut.

6
u/marathonmaniac99·

90 days is no joke! I've been experimenting with overnight oats too, and I love adding protein powder for the post-run recovery. It really helps with muscle soreness. If you're running, I suggest tossing in some chia seeds for extra omega-3s!

5
u/depressedlifter·

Oats are good, but like, it's not the end-all-be-all. I tried the overnight oats hype and felt underwhelmed. Life's too short to eat boring food every day. Spice it up or you'll lose interest fast.

5
u/runninglateagain·

Ngl, overnight oats sound cool, but is it weird that I just can't get over the texture? I'm more of a smoothie person. Can you blend oats into a smoothie bowl? Asking for a friend!

4
u/deadlift_dan·

90 days of anything is serious dedication! I've hit my PRs by staying strict with my nutrition. Oats are a solid carb source, but mix in some eggs or whey if you need a protein boost for your lifts. Just make sure you're hitting those targets.

4
u/marathonmaniac99·

That's a great approach! I've found that having a consistent breakfast helps maintain energy levels during long runs. Just make sure you're still getting enough calories throughout the day, especially as a busy mom. Hydration is key too, especially when you're active!

72

Absolutely! I use MyFitnessPal for tracking, and it's been a lifesaver. You can scan barcodes, which saves time. Plus, it helps me stay accountable and adjust portions if needed. Anyone else find it helpful?

9
u/powerliftingpaul·

I second that! MFP is awesome for tracking, but I've been using Cronometer lately. It gives a more detailed breakdown of vitamins and minerals. For those who want to optimize their diet, it's worth checking out!

8
u/powerliftingpaul·

Eggs over oats any day! But if you're doing overnight oats, make sure you add some variety with toppings. Try different fruits and nut butters to keep it exciting. I also recommend tracking your intake if you're serious about your macros.

4
u/gains_4_days·

I mean, is oatmeal even a legit breakfast? I get it's filling, but it feels like such a snooze fest. I'd rather have eggs or something. But hey, if it works for u, that's cool.

3
u/spoonie_lifter·

I have to say, I love the idea of sticking to a breakfast routine. For someone with chronic fatigue, that predictability helps a lot. I make mine with oatmeal, a scoop of protein, and top it with whatever fruit I have. Simplicity is key

2
u/marathonmom_42·

That's amazing, congrats on hitting 90 days! I can relate to the morning hustle, it's tough to find time for yourself with three kids. I started doing smoothie bowls for breakfast, they're quick and packed with nutrients, maybe give that a shot for variety!

I started using overnight oats last summer, and they've transformed my mornings! I usually mix in some nut butter and top with sliced bananas and a sprinkle of cinnamon. It's super filling and keeps my energy steady throughout my workout. Plus, it's great for meal prep!
