Is beetroot legit for endurance, or just another veggie hype train?

TL;DR: Trying to figure out if beetroot helps with endurance and what dose is legit.

Been hearing a lot about beetroot for endurance lately, but I'm kinda skeptical. What dose do you guys take for it? I lift heavy and run like a turtle, so not sure if I should jump on this bandwagon. Any science behind it or is it just a fancy salad ingredient?

I totally get ur skepticism! But like, beetroot is packed with nitrates, which can help improve blood flow and endurance. I've been adding beetroot juice to my pre-workout smoothie, and I feel more pumped during my runs! 馃尡

Beetroot is rich in antioxidants and can improve cardiovascular health. Plus, it supports better circulation, which is beneficial for all kinds of workouts. It's not just a trend!

If u're lifting heavy, I'd suggest a dose of about 500ml of beetroot juice before your workouts! It's like a natural pre-workout.

I've been incorporating beetroot into my pre-workout meals, and my squat game has never been better! Might just be placebo, but who cares if it works?

The nitrates in beetroot can actually enhance performance by improving blood flow and oxygen delivery. Just make sure to have it at least 2-3 hours before working out for best effects

As a dad who lifts, I've tried a lot of 'health foods' that promised big gains, but I was pleasantly surprised with beetroot. My energy levels during workouts improved, and honestly, I think the kids liked the color of my smoothies too! Just remember, no supplement replaces a good diet.

bro, beetroot's just a fancy veggie. stick to lifting heavy, that's where the gains are.

I mean, if beetroot was just a veggie hype train, it wouldn't be this popular among athletes. I've seen some studies that suggest beetroot can actually improve time trial performance. It might be worth a shot, especially if you're hitting the track! 馃槃

No cap, I've seen some crazy results from beetroot, but like, I still prefer my protein shakes over a salad any day.

You know what they say, if you can't beet 'em, join 'em! Seriously tho, I mix beetroot into my smoothies and feel a boost.

There's also research linking beetroot to better recovery post-exercise. So if you're looking to lift and run, it might be worth a try!

Good question! While spinach has nitrates too, beetroot has higher concentrations, making it more effective for endurance gains.

As a runner, I've noticed a difference with beetroot juice. It helped me with my pacing on longer runs, for sure.

And don't forget, beetroot can stain your clothes, so watch out if you're wearing light colors while drinking it.

I was skeptical too but gave it a try during my cutting phase. I found that it helps with stamina during HIIT. Just make sure you're tracking your macros too, or the extra carbs from beetroot can sneak up on you. Keeping it balanced is key!

This is all cool and stuff, but who wants to drink their salad, right? Just lift heavy, skip the beet juice and eat some steak, bro. 馃槀

I tried beetroot juice before my workouts and I felt like a superhero! 馃挭 It's not just a salad thing, it can really help with blood flow!

I used beetroot powder before my marathons, and I think it really helped! I noticed I could maintain my pace better in the later miles. I'd recommend starting with about 300-600 mg an hour before your workouts to see how it affects you.

I was skeptical too, but after a month of beetroot juice, I noticed I can push harder on my cardio days! Might just be my imagination tho.

As a vegan, I use beetroot all the time! It's great for endurance and has a ton of nutrients. Plus, it's super versatile in recipes.

Be careful with how much you take though! Too much can lead to digestive issues for some people. Start slow!

No joke, my gym buddy swears by it! He says it got him through a tough cut without losing too much energy.

u/squat_addict_99

But is it really worth the hype? i mean, could I get the same effects from, like, spinach or something?

Just remember, veggies are friends, not food enemies! Variety is key, right? Gotta keep things interesting.

There's some solid research backing beetroot for endurance. Studies show that nitrates can lower oxygen consumption during exercise, which is huge for endurance athletes. Just make sure you're getting organic beets, as they're less likely to be loaded with pesticides.
