Finally hit the 1k club! But is it too late for me?

TL;DR: Hit the 1k club with a 1,000 lb total! But is it ever too late to keep pushing for more?

Hi all, I'm a 62-year-old retired nurse who's been lifting for about five years now. After countless hours in the gym, I finally managed to hit the 1k club with my total lifts: 330 lbs squat, 240 lbs bench, and 430 lbs deadlift, bringing my total to 1,000 lbs exactly. It feels amazing to finally see the results of my hard work!

That said, I sometimes wonder if I've started this journey too late in life. I see so many younger lifters posting their own impressive stats, and I can't help but think about how different our experiences might be. Has anyone else here joined the lifting community later in life? What are some of your proudest moments, and do you feel like it's ever too late to push for new PRs?

I love hearing about others' journeys and really want to inspire my fellow seniors to stay active, so I'm curious about your thoughts. Thanks for sharing!

Lmao this isn't a skill issue, it's more like a life issue 馃槀. I can't even imagine lifting those weights at 62! But keep going! Have you thought about tracking your lifts and progress? I use an app to log everything. It keeps me accountable, and you can actually see the gains over time!

Your accomplishment is really inspiring! I love how you're not only focusing on your physical progress but also sharing your journey with others. In my practice, I encourage my clients to embrace the process rather than just the results. Mindfulness in lifting can really enhance your experience. Have you tried incorporating any breathing techniques while lifting? It can make a big difference.

I love that you're aiming for more! Nutrition plays a huge role as you push for new PRs. I recommend focusing on whole foods and maybe trying some new recipes that support your lifting. Clean eating can be fun and satisfying. There are plenty of delicious options out there that can help you feel great and recover faster!

100%. Age is just a number. I meal prep for my lifts to stay consistent with my nutrition, and I think that helps a lot with my recovery. You might want to look into planning out meals that support your lifting goals. I usually do a mix of lean protein, complex carbs, and healthy fats. It really makes a difference in performance.

Honestly, I feel like age can give you an advantage in terms of discipline and consistency! I know for me, having kids has taught me to manage my time better. I lift while they nap or play! Don't be afraid to push for new PRs. If you find a routine that works for you, stick with it. It's all about finding balance.

Congratulations on hitting the 1k club! That is a fantastic achievement, especially at 62! I started lifting in my late 50s, and I can assure you that it's never too late to begin this journey. I remember my first deadlift PR; I was so nervous, but pushing past my limits felt exhilarating. Staying active not only helps with strength, but it also keeps our minds sharp. Keep inspiring others!

I think it's awesome that you're lifting at 62! Age is just an excuse some people use. Just remember to take care of ur joints, maybe consider some mobility work or yoga to balance things out. Also, don't hesitate to share your progress pics! It really motivates others in our community.

Ngl, I think it's super motivating to see someone older in the lifting game. Like, you're making gains while I'm over here just trying not to skip leg day! Seriously though, it's never too late to start. Keep chasing those PRs, and show us how it's done. You've got this!

Lol I love that you're worried about being 'too late'! I just started lifting a few months ago, and I'm already feeling stronger. If anything, it's super inspiring to see someone older doing it. Plus, you've got wisdom on your side! Honestly, you're showing us all that it's not about age, but determination and passion
