Is it true that we all need 8 hours of sleep? Asking for my recovery!

TL;DR: Sleep needs aren't one-size-fits-all; some need 6 hours, others 9.

So I've been hearing everywhere that 8 hours of sleep is a must for everyone, especially when you're lifting heavy like me! But I came across some research that says sleep needs can actually vary by person. A study in the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine found that some folks feel great with just 6 hours while others might need 9! 馃槾 I'm just curious if anyone else has experienced this? How much sleep do you actually need to feel good and lift well?

So true! If I don't get at least 7 hours, my pancakes don't taste as good. Sleep affects everything, even my mood for flipping! 馃

I think the 8-hour rule is a guideline, not a hard rule. I've been lifting for 15 years, and I've seen plenty of people thrive on different amounts. One guy I know feels amazing on 5.5, while another needs 9 to function.

Also, skill issue if you can't recover right. If you're struggling, might want to check your sleep quality and not just the hours. This shit works!

Honestly, if u're not hitting ur macros or taking the right supplements, it won't matter how much you sleep. Creatine and ashwagandha can help with recovery too, so don't sleep on that.

Honestly, I think it depends on what you do during the day too! If you're lifting hard and training, your body might crave more sleep. I've been a total zombie on less than 7 hours

Sleep quality is a huge factor. Studies have shown that deep sleep is when most muscle repair happens. If you're tossing and turning, no amount of hours will help. Try to set a regular sleep schedule.
