Lever belt vs prong belt, which one should I go for?

I'm diving into powerlifting and can't decide between a lever belt and a prong belt. The lever seems cool for quick adjustments, but I've heard the prong gives more flexibility. What do you guys prefer for stability and comfort during those heavy lifts? Help a gal out!

If you're just diving into powerlifting, I recommend considering what your main lifts will be. A lever belt is great for quick adjustments, which can help when you are working on heavy singles or competing. Prong belts, on the other hand, offer a more customizable fit, which is beneficial if your body composition changes or if you find certain settings more comfortable as you progress. If you track your lifts, it might be interesting to see how your performance varies with each type.

Bro, the lever belt is superior for serious lifters. You get that quick release and adjustments without any hassle. Plus, studies show that a tighter belt can lead to better intra-abdominal pressure, meaning more stability and potentially heavier lifts! Prong belts are for noobs who don't want to commit. Go lever or go home, fr.

Honestly, I don't get the hype around belts in general. I used a prong belt for a while, and it felt fine, but I didn't really notice a difference in my lifts. If you're strong enough to lift heavy, why not just focus on your form? This reliance on gear can make you forget about the basics. im just saying, belts are nice, but don't overthink it. Strength comes from within, not from a belt.

For what it's worth, the prong belt does allow for some flexibility that might suit you as you progress. It can take a little time to adjust to the fit, but once you find your groove, it's pretty solid. If you're focusing on stability, definitely ensure you're bracing properly during lifts. The belt won't do all the work; you still need that strong core engagement.

Back in my day, we used whatever belts we could find, but i have to say, the convenience of a lever belt is tempting. I've seen young lifters like you get the hang of their lifts faster with a stable setup. Just remember to give your core a workout too; you don't want to rely too much on the belt. Don't forget to have fun with it!

I'd say just get whichever one looks cooler, honestly. I mean, if it makes you feel more badass, that's half the battle, right? Just keep having fun with your workouts and enjoy the process!

As a gym owner, I've seen a lot of lifters come through, and I can tell you, comfort and stability are everything. Lever belts are super easy to adjust, which is great when you're hitting different weight ranges. But I've also seen folks struggle with the fit because they aren't as versatile as prong belts. It's about finding what suits you, your body, and your style of lifting. Also, make sure you're not skipping your core work, no matter which belt you choose.
