Is fish oil actually a player in muscle protein synthesis? 馃

TL;DR: Looking for clarity on fish oil's role in muscle protein synthesis.

Saw a recent review about fish oil's effects on muscle protein synthesis, but it feels like another 'maybe' topic. Schoenfeld and Phillips both mentioned some potential benefits, but I'm curious about the actual impact size. Did anyone break down the study quality or sample populations? Because if it's just hype, I'm not down to throw fishy oil on my protein pancakes.

I made some killer protein pancakes recently, and I was wondering if adding fish oil would even taste good! But honestly, I think sticking to whole foods for healthy fats is the way to go. Avocado, nuts, or even some Greek yogurt can work magic on pancakes without that fishy flavor. Anyone tried it?

Fish oil does contain omega-3s, which are linked to anti-inflammatory properties. While it might help with recovery, the evidence on muscle protein synthesis is mixed. Most studies focus on older populations, not younger lifters like us. So, before adding it to your diet, think about your own goals and the quality of studies you're looking at.

I struggle with chronic pain, and I've found omega-3s can help reduce inflammation for me. But I also agree with you that not every supplement works the same for everyone. It's really about what fits into your routine and makes you feel better. If you try fish oil, track how it affects you personally.

bruh, if I wanted to throw fishy oil on my pancakes, I'd just cook them in the ocean. Stick to the real gains, fam.

YEAH MAN, FISH OIL IS COOL AND ALL, BUT I'D RATHER STICK TO BICEP CURLS FOR MY GAINS! FOCUS ON THAT PROTEIN, BRO!

Look, I'm all for omega-3s, but the whole fish oil hype can be exaggerated. If you're lifting hard, a balanced diet and proper protein intake should be your priority. Maybe experiment with flaxseeds or chia seeds instead for those omega-3s without the fish oil taste. Just my two cents.
