Feeling regret after a 1000 calorie surplus for 4 weeks, any advice?

TL;DR: Regretting a 1000 calorie surplus for 4 weeks, looking for advice on adjustments.

I spent the last month in a 1000 calorie surplus thinking I'd build muscle, but now I feel like I've put on more fat than I wanted. I love running and usually focus on staying lean while building strength. Has anyone else dealt with this kind of body comp regret after a bulk? How do you manage the aftermath or make adjustments to get back on track? Any tips would be appreciated!

100% agree! If you feel like you've overshot, try a mini-cut for a month. It's a good way to get back on track without totally sacrificing your gains. And remember, muscle memory is real. You can get back to where u were in no time! And maybe run a bit more to help shed that fat.

Yeah, I've had my fair share of bulking regrets too! But it's all about learning. I tried doing it intuitively, which worked for a bit, but eventually I had to rein it in and track again. Sometimes you need that structure to figure out your own balance. And hey, you can still run while cutting! Just adjust your energy intake.

Facts, that surplus can get out of hand real quick. I used to bulk without tracking, and it always ended with more fluff than muscle. Try tracking macros, even just for a couple of weeks, to get a handle on what you're eating. It can be eye-opening!

This! One time, i bulked too fast and ended up feeling like a stuffed turkey. 😂 You really need to find the right surplus for your body. I find meal prepping and portioning out snacks helps keep me accountable and less likely to overeat. Plus, it saves time during the week!

Ngl, 1000 calorie surplus sounds like overkill unless you're a serious hardgainer. I bulked a bit too aggressively last year, and the regret hit hard when I stepped on the scale. If you want to shift back, try a slight deficit while focusing on strength. You'll keep some muscle but shed the extra fat too.

I hear you, been there! I put on more fat than I wanted after my first bulk too. Honestly, I switched to Cronometer for tracking. It's way more detailed than others and helped me adjust my intake based on what I actually needed for my goals. Might be worth a shot.
