What do you really eat for breakfast on race day?

I see so many trends about race day breakfasts, from oatmeal to gels, but what actually works? I've tried a few different things over my years of running, and honestly, I'm still not sure what the best option is. Some people swear by bananas, others go for energy bars, and I've even heard of people doing full-on meals. What's your go-to? What have you tried that either worked wonders or went completely wrong?

On race day, I usually go for a big bowl of oatmeal with honey and some nuts. Keeps me full and gives me a nice energy boost. I tried gels once, but they felt like I was drinking syrup and didn't sit well at all.

Waking up early for a race is already torture, and then some people want to eat a full breakfast? Not for me. I stick to a banana and maybe some peanut butter if I'm feeling wild.

I used to think I needed to eat a massive breakfast before races, but I've found that I can run just fine on a protein shake and a banana. Keeps it light and avoids the dreaded stomach cramps.

I tried a full breakfast burrito once before a 5K and almost didn't make it to the finish line. Stick to simple carbs like toast with jam, trust me. Easy to digest and gives you that quick energy boost.

I weigh my options based on macros. I usually go for something with carbs and a little protein, like yogurt with granola. Keeps my energy steady. Just make sure to time it right, about 1-2 hours before the race.

I like a yogurt bowl with fruit and some granola for crunch. Super refreshing and gives me that burst of energy without making me feel heavy. Plus, it's just pretty to look at.

Oatmeal is like the rice of breakfast options. Tastes like cardboard unless you throw a mountain of toppings on it. I'm more about that bagel life. Toast it, smear on some cream cheese, and I'm ready to race.

I usually do pancakes the night before, not on race day. I can't handle a heavy breakfast before running. A light smoothie with some protein powder does the trick. Keeps my energy up without the sluggish feeling.

I'm all about that keto life, so my race day breakfast is a bit different. I stick to eggs and avocado, keeps my energy stable without that carb crash. Gotta say, it feels good to run on fat instead of sugar.
