Plateau on Overhead Press at 185, anyone break through?

I've been stuck at 185 for my overhead press for what feels like forever! I'm following a PPL routine, but it seems like no matter how I tweak my programming, I just can't get past this weight. Have any of you broken through this plateau? Any tips or strategies to push past this hurdle would be super appreciated!

Plateaus can be discouraging, but they are often opportunities for growth. Instead of focusing solely on the overhead press, consider incorporating accessory lifts that target your shoulders and triceps. This could include overhead dumbbell presses, lateral raises, or close-grip bench presses. Improving your overall shoulder strength might translate directly to better performance in your overhead press. Balance your training and give your body time to adapt.

Facts. Most lifters face plateaus, and it's often about finding what works for you. Have you considered increasing your caloric intake? Sometimes, just a little more food can make a big difference. You gotta fuel the machine. Plus, try to be consistent with your sleep and recovery, those play huge roles in strength gains too

Skill issue, bro. If you're not doing heavy volume work or getting enough intensity in your training, that could be holding you back. Make sure you're hitting your RPE targets. If you're always lifting at a 6 or 7, you're not pushing hard enough. Have you tried going heavier for a few weeks, even if it feels uncomfortable? You might surprise yourself.

Breaking through a plateau at 185 is a common struggle for many lifters. It might help to assess your form and technique first. Sometimes, subtle adjustments can lead to significant improvements in strength. Try filming your lifts to identify any weaknesses in your movement pattern. Also, consider a slight deload week if you've been pushing hard for a while. Allowing your body some recovery could help reset your strength.

I totally understand the frustration of being stuck at a weight. I hit a plateau on my overhead press after hitting 160 for weeks, and what finally helped was changing my rep range. I switched to doing sets of 3-5 for a few weeks, then went back to 8-10 reps. It was a real game-changer for me! Have you tried varying the rep ranges?

Ngl, plateaus can suck, but they can also teach you a lot! One time I was stuck on my bench press, so I started adding in more accessory work like face pulls and tricep extensions. It took a bit, but I finally broke through. What snacks are you enjoying to keep your energy up during your workouts? I love having some Greek yogurt with honey!
