Why did I just gain 5 lbs back after my cut?

TL;DR: Gained 5 lbs back fast after a cut, need insights.

So, I just wrapped up a cut, dropped 15 lbs in 12 weeks, and was feeling great. Fast forward to now, and I've gained back 5 lbs in just a week! Did I accidentally summon the water retention gods? Or is my body just playing tricks on me after the calorie deficit? Anyone else experience this? What's the deal?

This is 100% normal after a cut, fam. Your body is probably just trying to find its balance again. Like, my weight would swing around a few pounds post-cut too. Just don't stress about it, you'll find your rhythm again!

Many people experience this during transitions. Weight fluctuations can happen due to water retention, increased carbs, or just a natural response to reintroducing calories. Keep tracking your macros and focus on how your clothes fit and how you feel, not just the scale.

You probably hit a mini recomp phase. After a cut, your body is adjusting back to maintenance. This can lead to temporary weight gain as glycogen stores are replenished and water is retained. Just monitor your intake closely with something like Cronometer or MacroFactor to stay aware. Don't let the scale dictate your progress!

Ngl, if you went from a deficit to a surplus too quickly, your body might just be adjusting. You might want to try a more gradual increase to prevent rapid weight gain. Also, drinking more water can help flush out that excess retention. Lift heavy and stay focused!

When I finished my last cut, I jumped back into a normal eating routine and gained about 4 lbs in a week! It's mainly water weight, so don't freak out. Just make sure your meals are balanced with whole foods and stay active. You'll be back on track in no time!
