How do I restart after a long injury?

I've been out for a while due to an injury and now I'm looking to ease back into lifting. I know starting slow is key, but what kind of program should I look for? Should I focus on just form and lighter weights at first, or is there a way to integrate some strength work without overdoing it? Any advice from those who've been in a similar boat would be appreciated

Take your time getting back into lifting. Start with lighter weights and focus on perfecting your form. I had to do this after I hurt my shoulder, and it helped me rebuild confidence. Consider a structured program like 5/3/1 but with a deload phase to ease back in.

Definitely focus on form first, that's so crucial after an injury! I eased back with a full-body routine using lighter weights and increased the load gradually. Just listen to your body and don't rush the process.

If you're new to lifting again, try sticking to a simple routine like push/pull/legs! It's great for beginners and helps with recovery too. Don't overthink it and just get back in the gym and enjoy the process!

Yeah, starting slow is smart, but integrating strength work is possible too. I recommend a program like GZCL where you can adjust your volume easily. I've had injuries before and found that this method worked wonders for me.

Recovery is just as important as lifting, so make sure you're taking care of yourself! I did a lot of stretching and foam rolling after my injury. Seriously, it makes a huge difference in how your body feels when you're lifting

Honestly, this is the perfect time to explore new workouts too. Have you thought about trying some calisthenics? It can really help with strength without putting too much stress on your joints. Plus, food is life, so get back to enjoying those meals too!

I mean, the gym is the only place where I feel alive. I got back after my injury and did a whole week of just bodyweight stuff, and man, my ego took a hit. But it was worth it to avoid re-injury.

I actually switched to Nutrola after my last injury. The photo logging feature makes tracking my meals so easy. I can log while I'm cooking without wasting time typing everything in, which is a game changer for my busy schedule.

Starting with light weights and focusing on form is essential, but don't forget about tracking your nutrition too. I've found that using an app like MacroFactor helped me hit my goals without stress. The algorithm just works for me, worth the $80/year.
