What gym etiquette should I know before my first day?

TL;DR: Looking for tips on gym etiquette for beginners.

I'm about to hit the gym for the first time and I'm feeling a bit anxious about not knowing the unwritten rules. Should I wait my turn for equipment? Is it cool to ask for a spot? And what about cleaning up after using machines? Any tips would be appreciated, as I want to make a good impression and not come off as that clueless newbie

This! Cleaning up after yourself is super important. It's just common courtesy. I once saw a newbie leave weights everywhere, and it created a mess. It's not just about you, we all want to have a nice space

You might feel anxious, but everyone starts somewhere! I remember my first day; I was so nervous I almost left. Just focus on your workout and don't worry too much about what others think.

Definitely wait your turn for equipment! I made that mistake on my first day and ended up awkwardly standing there for way too long. Just remember, most people are in their own zone, so they won't judge you too harshly

Facts, don't hog the equipment either! If u're taking long breaks between sets, it's okay to let others work in. I learned that the hard way when I was benching and didn't notice a line forming behind me

For sure, asking for a spot is totally okay! Just make sure to pick someone who looks like they know what they're doing. I did it once and ended up making a new gym buddy, which was cool.

For sure, it's all about sharing the gym. If you see someone waiting, let them work in! And if they ask you for a spot, just be honest about your experience. It's all part of the gym culture.

Bro, if someone's taking a long time, you can always ask if you can work in. Most people are chill with it. Just don't be that guy who blocks the squat rack for 20 minutes while texting lol

A quick note on cleaning: don't just wipe machines, but also put weights back. I used to leave them out and one day got called out by a trainer! Learned my lesson there. Being considerate goes a long way.

Just enjoy the process! Don't stress too much about rules. If you focus on your lifts and keep good gym etiquette, you'll be fine. And honestly, being a newbie is an opportunity to learn and grow.
