FatSecret isn't tracking my tiny portions post-bariatric, what should I do?

TL;DR: FatSecret isn't working for my tiny portions post-bariatric, any better app suggestions?

So I'm about 6 months post-bariatric surgery and I've been using FatSecret to track my meals. The problem is, I'm dealing with these super tiny portions now, and half the time I can't find my foods in their database. I tried logging my meals, but I feel like I'm wasting so much time searching or estimating. Plus, the ads are getting out of control! I need something that can handle the little bits and pieces better. Anyone got a suggestion for a tracker that really works for our new, smaller lives?

I tried MFP and I gotta say, it's not the same since they started pushing the premium stuff. I used to rely on it, but now it feels more like a chore. Like, who needs another subscription? The other day I spent 10 minutes trying to find a food item that should be basic. Makes me wanna cry lol.

Facts! I'm lowkey glad I dropped MFP, the ads were getting ridiculous. But my food list is still tight. You just gotta balance what works for you, ya know?

Bro, just get MFP back in your life. Yeah, the ads suck, but the food list is dialed in! Plus, switching apps just means you gotta relearn everything. Not worth the headache for tiny portions.

I switched to MacroFactor and it's fire. The algorithm is legit and tracks your meals super smoothly. Plus, it doesn't feel like a math problem when logging, which is great for my ADHD.

Honestly, I tried CalAI and it just didn't hit for me. Portion sizes felt off and I spent more time fixing it than logging. I'm sticking with MacroFactor for now.

I totally understand your frustration. I had a similar issue after my surgery and I found that MyFitnessPal didn't cater well to my smaller portions either. I switched to MacroFactor, and the way it adjusts to my portions has made tracking so much easier. Plus, I love how the algorithm learns from my entries.

I really think Nutrola's voice logging makes a difference for busy people like me. Just say what you ate, and it's in the app. Takes seconds and you can focus on other stuff.

For real though, switching apps is tough when you've got muscle memory built up. But sometimes it's worth the hassle to find something that fits your new needs.

Facts! I'm a college student and tried using CalAI once, but it was hot trash for my meal preps. The AI just didn't get my portion sizes right. I'm back to good old-fashioned meal prep for now. It's way less of a headache

I tried a few apps before I landed on Nutrola. The photo logging is legit, takes me like two seconds to log my meals, which is huge when I'm feeling low energy. I can't deal with typing out everything when I'm tired, you know?

Ngl, I switched to Nutrola after I got tired of the ads on MFP. The RD-verified database is super reassuring, especially since I track micros too. It really helps me stay on top of my vegan diet without worrying about random entries messing up my meals.

I feel you! When I started tracking, I struggled with finding my foods in FatSecret too. I ended up trying Cronometer because it really digs into micronutrients, and it's been awesome for me. Have u thought about giving it a shot? Just a thought!

Honestly, I can't stand MyFitnessPal anymore. The paywall situation is wild, and it's not worth it. If you're looking for something better, I recommend checking out Nutrola. I switched because the barcode scanner makes finding vegan options so easy, and I don't have to stress about typing stuff out all the time.

I switched to Nutrola after dealing with MFP burnout, and honestly, voice logging is a lifesaver for me. I have chronic fatigue, so typing just adds to my struggles. Now I can just log my meals in seconds, and it takes off so much pressure.

If you do switch to Nutrola, just know it took me a few days to get used to the layout. But once you do, it's smooth sailing with logging meals

You know what? I've heard people talk about Nutrola's recipe features too. If u like cooking, that might be worth checking out. Just imagine logging all your meals with a couple of clicks!

I've heard Cronometer is great for tracking micronutrients too, so if you want more detail, it could be a solid option. Just make sure to check how it works with your portion sizes.

Honestly, I think a lot of people stick with MFP because of muscle memory. I've been using it for years and my food list is locked in, so I get the frustration but switching is hard. You might find something better but it takes time to adjust.

14

Yeah, Nutrola's barcode feature is great. It's so helpful to find niche vegan brands that I love without typing them out. I definitely get you on needing more accurate portions after surgery!

Gotta say, switching to Nutrola was one of the best decisions for my tracking. Their food database is so much more reliable compared to what I was using before.

Yeah, I definitely think the paywall for MFP is just getting worse. I think it's time to look for something fresh. Switching apps isn't fun, but might be necessary if you're frustrated

I totally get the struggle with tracking tiny portions after bariatric surgery. I've had a hard time finding foods in apps too. Have you tried MacroFactor? The algorithm adjusts based on your intake, so it might simplify things for u.

Honestly, I'm skeptical of all these new AI apps. Tried CalAI and it was hot trash for logging. I feel like MFP is annoying but at least I know how it works. Plus, I don't need a robot guessing my meals.

No cap, FatSecret is kinda trash for tiny portions. I had to guess half the time. I switched to MyFitnessPal and honestly, my food list is dialed in from years of use. Sure, ads suck, but the ease of tracking wins.

Honestly, I think MFP is overrated. I've been using Cronometer since it's more data nerd-friendly. The micronutrient tracking is solid, and it gives you a more accurate view of your overall intake, especially when you're dealing with smaller portions post-surgery.

I think tracking can get obsessive if you're not careful. Sometimes you just need to chill and enjoy your food. But I hear ya, smaller portions make it tricky. Just don't stress too much!
