Coming back from a 2 week break, how should I ease back in?

TL;DR: Need advice on easing back into lifting after a 2-week break.

So I took a 2-week break from lifting, just got burned out and needed to recharge. Now I'm feeling a bit lost on how to ease back into my routine without blowing up my joints or ego. Should I just jump back into my old numbers or start lighter? Any tips on managing DOMS after time off would be appreciated too. Can't stand running, so I'm all about the heavy lifts!

It's great to hear you're ready to get back to lifting! I recommend starting with lighter weights and focusing on form. After a two-week break, your body might be a bit out of sync. A nice way to ease back in is to take the first week to work on your movement patterns, practicing your lifts at around 50-60% of your normal working weight. This allows you to reconnect with your body and prevent injuries.

You should really track your weights as you ease back in! A lot of lifters make the mistake of pushing too hard too fast, which can lead to injury or just plain old burnout again. For the first week, aim for 60-70% of your previous max lifts. And don't forget about your nutrition! Adequate protein and hydration can help manage DOMS too. Maybe look into things like creatine to aid recovery as well.

Omg, I totally get the need for a break! Balancing fun and fitness is key! I usually start with lighter weights, but don't forget to treat yourself too. After a tough workout, I love making protein-packed smoothies with banana and spinach as a post-lift snack. Delicious and nutritious!

just take it easy, man. hitting your old numbers right away can wreck your joints, especially after a break. ease back in, maybe start with 60-70% of your max and see how you feel. nobody wants to be that guy getting wrecked on a deadlift

no cap, jumping back to old numbers sounds like a recipe for disaster. when i took time off, i went way lighter and focused on perfecting my form. DOMS hit hard after a break, so make sure to stretch and maybe foam roll a bit! trust me, it's better than dealing with sore muscles for a week.
