Why does insomnia hit harder after leg day? Am I just doomed?

TL;DR: Insomnia after leg day is ruining my recovery. Any tips?

So, I've been lifting like a beast, but every time I go hard on leg day, insomnia rolls in like an unwanted guest. My sleep is trash, and I'm caught in this mutual destruction loop where I can't lift heavy because I can't recover. Like, is it the caffeine or am I just too hyped from all the squats? How do I escape this? Any hacks for getting quality Zs after a killer workout?

Interesting observation! When you do intense leg workouts, your body releases cortisol, which can interfere with sleep. Adding a post-workout routine with light stretching and meditation could help mitigate this

Skill issue, ngl. Just try not to do too much volume on leg days if you know you struggle with sleep after. Balance is key. You got this!

Honestly, I've had similar struggles. My coach advised me to add a carb source post-workout, like rice cakes with peanut butter. It helps with recovery and might improve sleep quality.

You might also be experiencing some anxiety from pushing yourself hard. Sometimes our minds don't wind down even when our bodies are exhausted. A good sleep routine can help you settle down

Leg day is a savage beast, like how am I supposed to sleep when my legs feel like jelly? Maybe try some light stretching or foam rolling before bed. #SquatToPizza

Facts, leg day is like a high-stakes game of sleep roulette. Try cutting back on caffeine after 2 PM, and maybe do some yoga or deep breathing before bed. It helps me chill out, fr.

i get insomnia too after leg day. I used to think it was just me. Light snacks with protein before bed can help, like Greek yogurt or cottage cheese. It's worked wonders for me.

100! The post-leg day hype is real. Sometimes a good hot shower or epsom salt bath can help relax those muscles. Try it out, and see if it changes your sleep game.

Lmao, someone needs to put leg day on the no-sleep list. Ever tried just rolling around on a foam roller until you pass out? Might as well make it fun!

You could be experiencing some acute muscle soreness, which can keep you restless. Make sure you're hydrating well and consider magnesium supplements before bed to help relax those muscles.

I feel you! After leg day, I can't sleep either. I've found that some gentle yoga can really help calm the mind and body before bed. Plus, it helps with recovery.

That's a great point! We often forget how much our mental state affects our sleep. Maybe try some journaling after workouts to unload your thoughts and help clear your mind.
