What's your pre-bed routine to catch those Zs?

As a dad who's turned the garage into a gym, I've learned that my sleep game is just as crucial as my deadlifts. I try to keep it simple: no screens an hour before bed, a little stretching, and I pop some magnesium glycinate to help me chill. I'm curious, what's your go-to routine to ensure you're clocking in quality sleep? Let's swap tips!

I completely agree with the idea of a pre-bed routine. Research shows that reducing screen time before sleep can significantly improve sleep quality. The blue light emitted from screens can disrupt melatonin production, making it harder to fall asleep. I usually follow your routine but also incorporate a warm shower about an hour before bed; the drop in body temperature after the shower really helps signal my body that it's time to wind down.

Facts! Magnesium is the real MVP for sleep. I've been taking it too and I feel way more rested in the morning. But honestly, try to stay away from heavy meals right before bed. I did that once and my body was like 'nah bro, you're staying up.'

It's interesting how each of us has our own quirks! Personally, I keep it simple with a protein shake an hour before bed. It gives me that little boost of amino acids while I sleep, helping with muscle recovery. Just make sure you're not having it too late, or it might mess with your digestion.

Gotta agree with the stretching! I'm a home gym dad too and sometimes I feel like a rubber band after a tough workout. A little stretching and light yoga before bed helps loosen up and makes falling asleep way easier. Plus, my kids love to join in, which makes for some fun bonding time.

Totally! Kids joining in is the best. Also, what about bedtime snacks? I make sure to include some protein with a little carb, like cottage cheese and fruit, before sleeping. It's a win-win for gains and sleep!

Lowkey, sleep hygiene is so underrated. I used to think I could just crash after my workouts, but I really had to dial in my routine. I started using blackout curtains and a white noise machine. I sleep like a baby now! Anyone else into sleep gadgets?

This! I always try to get in a good meal with healthy fats before bed. I love making a small bowl of Greek yogurt with some berries and a drizzle of honey. It not only tastes great but helps keep me feeling satisfied through the night. Sleep is definitely the unsung hero of gains!

Ngl, i'm not sold on the no screens rule. Sometimes I watch some light stuff before bed. I get that the blue light can be rough, but I set my phone to night mode and keep the brightness low. Still, if I'm hitting my macros and getting my workouts in, I'm usually good to go! Anyone else feel that way?

I love hearing about everyone's routines. Consistency is huge, and if you're a parent like me, you know how important quality sleep is for those early mornings. My routine includes a quick foam roll session and some light stretches. It's amazing how much better I sleep when I take care of my muscles first.

You know what they say, the early bird gets the worm! But if the early bird doesn't sleep well, it might just end up as the early worm. I like to read a book or even crack open a dad joke book before bed. It relaxes me, and if I can make my wife chuckle, it's a win-win!

I see where you're coming from, but research backs the idea that even night mode screens can disrupt sleep. If you find it works for you, that's great! But I would suggest considering options like audiobooks or calming music instead. These can help maintain a relaxed atmosphere without the potential downsides of screen time.

Yep! Coffee in the morning is my jam, but I'm definitely a no caffeine before bed type of person. The struggle is real, though! I usually switch to herbal tea a few hours before sleep. Chamomile is my go-to, rly helps me wind down after a long day.
