How do I stop chafing on my long runs?

TL;DR: Looking for anti-chafing tips for long runs on a budget

Yo, so I'm hitting the long miles for my half-marathon training and this chafing is getting real! I tried some basic anti-chafe cream but it's still a struggle, especially between my thighs and under my arms. I'm on a budget, so any DIY hacks or cheap products that actually work would be clutch! What do you guys use?

If u're dealing with chafing, consider checking your body composition too. Sometimes excess weight can contribute to friction. And yeah, some anti-chafing creams might work better than others based on your skin type. Just keep track of what you try, so you know what actually helps. Experimentation is key here.

Ugh, chafing is the worst! I've been there, trust me. I like to snack on bananas before my runs; potassium helps with muscle cramps and also keeps my skin in check. And don't forget to hydrate! Proper hydration can keep your skin more elastic and reduce friction.

For real, chafing can be brutal! I like to think of it like pizza toppings; you want the right balance. 😂 What I do is use some Body Glide and wear my favorite compression shorts, and boom, no more chafing. Plus, if I treat myself to pizza after a long run, it's like a reward for dealing with that friction!

Chafing can really ruin a long run, i get it. One thing that might help is to make sure you're wearing moisture-wicking fabrics. Sometimes, just switching to the right gear can make a huge difference. Also, have you tried wearing anti-chafing shorts? They have built-in support that can really help reduce friction. And don't forget to keep the skin hydrated, so using a good moisturizer after your runs can also help!

I totally relate to this struggle, especially on those long runs with my kids tagging along. I've found that wearing compression shorts helped a ton with chafing between my thighs. Plus, they keep everything in place while you're pounding the pavement! Just make sure you're not wearing anything too tight, or it can backfire. My wife laughs when I come home with my running gear on, but it's all about comfort, right?

This, 100%. I've also heard that some people swear by corn starch as a DIY hack. Super cheap and keeps you dry. Just sprinkle it on before your run! If it works, you could be saving a ton compared to those pricey creams.

Yo, same! I used to struggle with this too. For budget options, try some Vaseline or coconut oil before your runs. It's super cheap and does the trick. Just don't go overboard, or you'll be sliding all over the place. 😂

Honestly, anti-chafing creams can be hit or miss. I tried one that was supposed to be great, but it didn't really work for me. I think a lot of it comes down to your body and what works for you. Ever considered adjusting your running form or stride length? Sometimes that's a factor too.
