What are your go-to foods for a clean bulk without sacrificing taste?

TL;DR: What are your favorite foods for a clean bulk that are both nutritious and tasty?

As someone who's been meal prepping for about five years now, I've really enjoyed finding ways to bulk up while keeping my meals delicious and nutritious. I usually aim for a surplus of around 300-500 kcal daily, focusing on quality foods that will help me gain lean muscle rather than just adding fat. I find that hitting around 1-2 lbs of weight gain per month keeps my gains clean.

I'm curious about what foods everyone else loves to include in their bulk. I usually prep meals with lean proteins, whole grains, and plenty of veggies, but I'm looking to switch things up. Do you have any favorite recipes or ingredients that really help with your bulking goals? Sharing some meals that pack in the calories while still being enjoyable would be amazing!

I love this topic! For clean bulking, I swear by quinoa and chickpeas. They're not only packed with protein but also provide complex carbs and fiber, which keep me feeling full and satisfied. I usually make a quinoa salad with cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, a squeeze of lemon, and some feta for flavor. It's so versatile and you can add whatever veggies you like. I also incorporate sweet potatoes into my meals; they're delicious baked with a bit of olive oil and herbs!

Dude, i'm a broke college student too, so I'm all about budget-friendly bulking! I usually just hit up the local grocery store for sales. Frozen chicken, rice, and any kind of veggies I can find on discount are my staples. I mean, I can't afford a fancy meal prep service, but this works well enough for me.

Facts! I'm all about that dairy life too! I mix fairlife protein with oatmeal in the morning, add some berries and maybe a little almond butter for a killer breakfast that hits those macros. Oatmeal slaps when you're bulking.

I totally get the struggle of meal prep! I find it helps to batch-cook versatile bases like brown rice or whole grain pasta, then just switch up the sauces or proteins each day to keep things fresh. You could do a Greek-style chicken one day and then a teriyaki beef the next. Travel has taught me to adapt meals to local flavors too, which keeps things exciting!

Ngl, i'm kinda skeptical about the whole clean bulking concept. Some say you gotta pack on the calories no matter what, even if it's not 'clean.' Like, I tried the whole 'dirty bulk' thing once and ended up feeling sluggish as hell. Definitely not worth it for me. Just saying, a balance might be the best approach.

This slaps! I just made a huge batch of beef and rice stir-fry, loaded with veggies. Toss in some soy sauce and sriracha for flavor, and u've got a meal that's not just calorie-dense but also super tasty. I'm posting pics on my insta for sure.

Just a heads-up, not all protein sources are created equal. If you're looking for muscle gains, lean meats, eggs, and dairy are top choices, but don't sleep on plant-based options if you're mixing it up. A study published in the Journal of Nutrition showed that amino acid profiles matter for muscle protein synthesis, so keep that in mind when planning meals. Also, for anyone considering just carbs and fats, they won't give you the same benefit when it comes to recovery and gains.
