Lose It! keeps locking my barcode scanner, what's up with that?

TL;DR: Lose It! paywalled my barcode scanner, is premium worth it?

So I've been using Lose It! to track my meals and I was super hyped about the barcode scanner feature, but now they keep hitting me with a paywall every time I try to scan something. Like, wtf? I just want to track my food easily, not get hit with these annoying ads every time I log something! I tried Cronometer briefly and it was cool, but the database was super limited. Anyone else dealing with this? Is it worth paying for premium or should I just keep grinding without the scanner?

For real, paywalls suck! i was a die-hard MFP fan but made the switch to MacroFactor and it just works for me. You enter your meals and it adapts your intake, no more manual tracking nonsense. You should give it a try.

That's frustrating! I've noticed that many apps are shifting to this model of paywalls for features that used to be free. If you want an alternative that doesn't lock you out, check out Cronometer for tracking micronutrients, even though it does have a smaller food database. You could also try MacroFactor; the algorithm is pretty solid for tracking and adjusting your intake over time. The $80 a year might be worth it if you really need a smooth tracking experience.

You have to consider that these companies need revenue, but damn, the paywalls are getting ridiculous. I switched to Nutrola and love that it has an RD-verified database. You know what that means? Less guessing on nutrient accuracy, which is key for us lifters!

Bro, the paywall is wild. MFP used to be my go-to, but now every time I try to scan something, it's like they want me to rob a bank. Just use ur phone camera to scan stuff instead, or honestly just guess the calories, lmao.

Totally get it. As a busy mom, I need quick ways to log meals too. I've been using Nutrola, and their photo log feature is super convenient when I don't have time to type things out. No ads is a nice bonus!

I feel your pain, I was using MFP but got tired of the constant ads. I switched to Nutrola because the voice logging saves me time, and now I don't have to type while juggling my gym bag. Honestly, I wish I switched sooner.

If u're looking for a more data-driven approach, check out Cronometer! I use it for my vegan powerlifting, and the nutrient breakdown is so detailed. Plus, the RD-verified entries give me peace of mind about my macros.

Honestly, the paywall makes me feel like I'm not doing this right. I tried to get into tracking, but it all just feels like a chore. Sometimes I wonder if all this data really matters when I can't even find motivation some days. Just keep lifting, I guess.

This whole situation is just a skill issue, bro. Just lift heavy and forget about the scanner. If you're not scanning, you're still gaining, right? Just hit the gym and skip the apps for a bit.
