Is this bovine colostrum hype for real or nah?

TL;DR: Is bovine colostrum really worth the hype or just another overhyped supplement?

So I've been seeing a lot of buzz about bovine colostrum lately, like it's the secret sauce to gains or something. I'm lowkey skeptical since there's not a ton of solid evidence backing it up. I get the whole immune boost and gut health angle, but does it actually work for performance? Anyone tried it and noticed any difference, or is it just another overhyped supplement?

For context, I'm all about that creatine, protein, and the usual suspects, but this one feels kinda random. What do y'all think?

Curious about:

  • dosages
  • timing
  • brands that don't suck
  • any real science behind it

Drop your thoughts!

Bovine colostrum does have some benefits, mostly related to immune support and gut health. While there isn't a ton of solid evidence for performance gains, some athletes swear by it for recovery. If you decide to try it, a common dosage is around 20 grams per day, split into doses, ideally taken before or after workouts.

From a health perspective, bovine colostrum is rich in antibodies and growth factors, which can aid recovery and immune function. That said, if your main goal is strength and muscle growth, it's not a substitute for solid nutrition and training. Consider it an addition to your stack, not the main focus

I've tried bovine colostrum in the past. I didn't notice anything groundbreaking for my lifts, but my digestion felt a bit better. It's not a miracle supplement, but it could help with gut health for some.

I think it can have some merit, especially for gut health. That said, if you're vegan like me, there are plenty of plant-based options that can provide similar benefits without the animal product. Things like fermented foods could help too.

I've been using it for a few months now, and I do feel a difference in recovery. It might not be for everyone, but it seems to help with soreness for me. Just don't expect miracles; it's not a substitute for solid training and nutrition.

Honestly, im skeptical too. Tried it once and felt like it was just hype. My gains were more related to my training and diet, not some random supplement. I'd stick with proven stuff like creatine or whey.

this. I'm lowkey with you, it seems kinda random. I mean, who thought of colostrum as a workout booster anyway? Seems like a weird flex to me.

If you ask me, it sounds a bit like snake oil. I mean, how does something from cows become the secret sauce? My gains come from hitting the gym and eating right, not some fancy supplement. And my kids would probably love that milkshake way more.
