Cronometer is cool but missing food options, anyone else struggle with this?

TL;DR: Cronometer is frustrating with its limited food database for tracking meals after my PCOS diagnosis. Any tips or better app suggestions?

So I got diagnosed with PCOS last month and I've been trying to track everything a bit more closely. I decided to stick with Cronometer because I've heard good things about its accuracy and nutrient tracking. But man, I'm getting super frustrated with how limited their food database is. I mean, I get that they have a lot of whole foods and all, but when I'm trying to log specific meals, like my go-to turkey wrap or that weird smoothie combo I throw together, the options just aren't there.

I've tried adding custom foods, but the UI can be a bit clunky, and sometimes it feels like I'm just wasting time. It's annoying when you're trying to be consistent and the app can't keep up with your meals. I even gave Yazio a shot for a bit but didn't vibe with it, felt too focused on just calorie counting instead of nutrient quality. Anyone else dealing with this? Any tips for making Cronometer work better or suggestions for other apps that might have a better food database? I'm just looking for something that actually gets the job done without the extra hassle.

Facts! Cronometer is awesome for tracking micros, but the food list is a bit of a pain sometimes. Like, I had to manually add my homemade lentil soup, which is annoying. You should try adding custom foods, but I get how clunky that can be! If you ever want new ideas for meals, hit me up! I'm all about finding tasty vegan stuff that works for PCOS.

Yeah, the Cronometer struggle is real. I went through the same issue trying to log my pre-workout smoothies. I tried MyFitnessPal too but didn't like how it felt more focused on calories than nutrients. If you're open to it, have you thought about trying Yazio again? They've improved their food database a bit recently, but I still think you might find it lacking.

Ngl, tracking can get overwhelming! I just keep it simple with my meals. I usually log what I eat in Nutrola because it's quick with the voice logging feature. My days are super busy between school and the gym, so I don't have time to type everything out. The AI helps a lot with accuracy too!

This is exactly why I ditched Cronometer after a while. It felt like a scavenger hunt to log my meals. I switched to MacroFactor, and the algorithm is just so much easier to work with. It learns your preferences and gets you set up without the hassle of searching for everything manually. Worth every penny of the yearly fee, honestly.

I've been using MFP for ages, and honestly, I can't switch now. I have my food list dialed in, and changing apps would just mess with my routine. Sure, the paywall is annoying, but I'm already invested. Sometimes it feels like all these new apps are just flashy versions of MFP.

I totally get your frustration with Cronometer. When I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression a couple years ago, I started tracking my nutrition more seriously. I found the food database can be really limiting. It often felt like I was spending more time trying to input meals than actually eating healthy. Have you tried reaching out to their support? I've heard they can be pretty responsive about adding new foods.

Have you tried Nutrola? The RD-verified database is great if you want accurate food options, especially for managing PCOS. The barcode scanner makes logging a breeze. As a nutritionist, I appreciate how reliable the information is. You might find it easier to track your meals without that extra stress

Lmao, I thought about trying CalAI, but hearing people say it was trash made me back off. I can't risk wasting time on another junk app. Sometimes I just want to stick with what works, you know? If you're still looking for options, though, maybe try logging with Nutrola's photo feature. I hear it makes things super quick for busy days

While I appreciate the nutritional precision Cronometer provides, I think it's essential to find balance. It sounds like your journey with PCOS is challenging. Have you considered how the app might be impacting your mental health as well? Sometimes, it's okay to step back from tracking so intensely if it adds more stress. Reflect on what feels right for you.
