Gels vs Chews vs Real Food on the Run: What's Your Vibe?

TL;DR: What's the best fuel for long runs: gels, chews, or real food?

So, I'm out here trying to conquer my long runs and I'm stuck in a snack conundrum! Should I be chowing down on those fancy energy gels, munching on chews, or going rogue with some real food like bananas or peanut butter sandwiches? I'm all about that keto life, but when it comes to fueling on the run, I need to know what won't have me crashing faster than my last HIIT session. What do you guys prefer and why? Hit me with your tasty faves!

I get the appeal of gels, but what's actually in them? Most are packed with sugars and preservatives, which can lead to crashes later. For long runs, I'd stick with real food or chews with natural ingredients. Keep it simple.

Tbh, i tried all three, and real food is my jam now! A couple of homemade peanut butter sandwiches hold me way longer than those gels. I ran a half-marathon last month with one in my pocket. No crashes, just smooth sailing. If you like keto, maybe wrap some turkey in lettuce and hit the road! 馃ガ

Gels are kinda sus, bro. They're like that friend who promises to pay you back but never does. Chews are cool, but real food? That's the MVP. I once ate a burrito before a 10K and surprisingly didn't die! 馃槀

Real food all the way! Gels taste like candy, but they wreck my stomach mid-run. I'm talking bananas, almond butter packs, or even some beef jerky for protein. Plus, it's just more fun munching on real stuff, right? 馃槀

I feel you on this snack conundrum! For my long hikes, I usually bring chews for quick energy but always pack some real food too. Last week, I took a rice cake with peanut butter on my 15-mile trek and felt great. Plus, it's a nice change of pace from those gels, which can feel like a chore to eat.
