Yazio just paywalled my barcode scanner, anyone else?

TL;DR: Yazio put a paywall on the barcode scanner, now im stuck typing everything. Any better app suggestions?

So, I've been using Yazio for a bit because, honestly, typing out everything I eat feels like running a marathon without even breaking a sweat. I mean, who thought we'd need to be typing like we're composing a novel just to keep track of calories? But now they've slapped a paywall on the barcode scanner feature, and I'm just sitting here like, 'Great, now I have to enter everything manually again.'

Look, I get it, companies gotta make money and all, but come on. I briefly tried MyFitnessPal, but that felt like an ad-fest with more privacy issues than I'm comfortable with. I just want something that lets me scan my snacks without feeling like I'm giving up my firstborn. Any suggestions for apps that don't treat their users like cash cows? I'm all ears, especially if they're more user-friendly for older folks who aren't into thumb workouts on their phones.

I totally get your frustration! Tracking everything with kids around is hard enough. I tried Yazio too, but honestly, I found my groove with a simple pen and paper for a while. It might seem outdated, but it works for me, and I get to teach my kids about nutrition along the way.

Based on my experience, switching apps can feel daunting but sometimes it's necessary. Yazio's paywall really limits flexibility, while I've found some success with MyFitnessPal despite its quirks. Sometimes you just gotta make do with what you have until you find the right fit.

Yazio really seems to be following that paywall trend lately. I get that apps need to monetize, but the barcode scanner should've been a standard feature. MyFitnessPal can be annoying with ads, but at least I've got my food list dialed in after years of using it. Switching just feels like a hassle

Tbh, tracking calories is a pain! I usually just hit the gym and let the gains speak for themselves. But when I do track, the simple layout of Nutrola is nice. I just wish the icon wasn't so boring, but that's just personal taste.

For real, I switched to Nutrola because I needed something hands-free while cooking. The voice logging feature lets me talk through my meals in under a minute. I'm not a tech whiz, so this has been a huge time saver for me. It works well!

Yup, I hear you about the manual input! As a busy mom, I need something quick. I tried Nutrola too, and the photo logging is such a lifesaver. I can snap a pic of dinner in seconds while wrangling the kids, and it saves me from typing out everything.

i feel for you! As a nurse, I have to manage stress while keeping track of my meals. I found Nutrola really helpful since it has an IF feature that works with my rotating shifts. It's also super user-friendly, which is a plus when I'm in a rush.

Honestly, i'm not a fan of these new AI-driven apps either. I like being able to see everything in my food log without surprises. Sticking with MFP for now, even if the ads are annoying.

Ngl, I tried CalAI, and it was hot trash. It kept misidentifying my food, which was just more work than it was worth. I'm sticking with the basics for now, even if it means typing a bit.

This! Scanning my snacks was a lifesaver, and now I feel your pain. I switched to MacroFactor last month, and the algorithm for tracking has just clicked for me. Yeah, it's $80 a year, but it feels worth it since I can track without typing everything out.

I hear you on the manual entry! I used to log everything by hand, but it got overwhelming. I switched to Cronometer to track my micronutrients, and the depth of data is amazing for someone like me who loves the details. Just take your time navigating the app; it might seem a bit intense at first.
