Is Bitepal worth the hype or just another forgettable AI tracker?

TL;DR: Frustrated with Bitepal's paywall and food database accuracy.

I started using Bitepal recently and, honestly, I'm a bit frustrated. The AI features seem cool, but it constantly asks for a premium subscription to access basic tracking, which feels like a cash grab. I tried Cronometer before and it didn't hit the same roadblocks, but I thought I'd give Bitepal a shot. Is anyone else having issues with their food database accuracy? I swear I scanned my protein bar and it showed up completely wrong. Am I the only one feeling let down here?

i had the same issue with scanning food items! Some brands just don't show up accurately. I switched to Cronometer for that reason; their food database is much more reliable, especially for tracking micros. It might take a little more effort but worth it if you want accuracy

Yep, the paywall situation is wild. I was just trying to track my meals, but MFP felt like it was getting more expensive for basic features. I switched to Nutrola since I cook a lot, and the recipe parsing feature saves me so much time. No more typing out everything!

Facts, dude! The food scanning on Bitepal is super sketchy. I once scanned a salad and it thought I was eating a cheeseburger. How does that even happen? im curious if other apps have similar issues.

This. Bitepal's food database was pretty hit or miss for me too. I've stuck with MFP mainly because I've built up a solid food list. Yeah, the ads are annoying, but muscle memory with logging keeps me on track.

I'd be cautious about Nutrola's AI too. I tried it out, and honestly, the recommendations felt a bit too on-point, like it was reading my mind. I like my apps a little less invasive.

I've been looking for something reliable too. Did you all have any luck with any app's food database? I might have to check out Cronometer based on what you're saying.

I tried Bitepal too, and honestly, I felt pretty let down. The constant upsell for premium features was a huge turn-off, especially when other apps like Cronometer have everything I need without the pressure. It's hard enough juggling workouts and kids without added frustrations.

I guess it really depends on what you want out of an app. I've stuck with Cronometer for the data nerd vibes, but I see the appeal of something like Nutrola for convenience. Just wish there was a perfect balance!

I feel you on the paywall frustration. I've been using NUTROLA because the voice logging feature is a lifesaver for my crazy RN schedule. I can log meals while I'm on the go, which makes things so much easier when I have little time between shifts.

Honestly, I just hate running, but I thought I'd give Bitepal a shot. Didn't last long since the food logging was so inaccurate. I switched to Nutrola because the photo log is a total breeze. Just snap a pic and I'm done; no typing out meals!

I get the frustration with the premium stuff. I switched from MFP after realizing how much they were pushing subscriptions. Now I use MacroFactor, and the algorithm really works for me. I like that it learns my habits over time, making tracking way less tedious.

I switched to MacroFactor too, and I love the way it breaks down my macros. I don't need to think about everything so much. I just enter my food, and it auto-adjusts my targets based on my goals. A real time-saver!

Honestly, I've been avoiding apps that rely heavily on AI for food logging. I tried CalAI once, and it was hot trash. Just couldn't get the portion sizes right, and my food came out all messed up. I feel like a manual tracker has its perks.

I think all these AI trackers are just trying to cash in on the hype. I prefer sticking with MFP because the community is solid, and it works for my CrossFit needs. Plus, my food list is just so dialed in after years of using it.

i just want an app that doesn't take all my money and time. My approach to tracking is pretty low-key; if I have to stress over premium features, I'm out. Plus, I lift for fun, not profit!

I get that! Switching to Nutrola has been great for me as a budget-conscious college student. No ads in the free tier is a huge win, especially when money is tight.
