Need a new twist on my protein oats, any cool combos? Trying to hit 40g protein!

TL;DR: Looking for variations on my protein oats! Trying peanut butter banana for 40g protein, but open to other ideas.

Yo fellow lifters and food wizards! I've been grinding my protein oats game for a hot minute now. Currently rocking the classic combo with oats, protein powder, and a splash of almond milk, but im lowkey looking for a fresh twist. I'm eyeing a peanut butter banana variation that would bump my protein to 40g!

Here's the blueprint I'm thinking:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup rolled oats (300 kcal, 10g protein)
  • 1 scoop (30g) whey protein (120 kcal, 25g protein)
  • 2 tbsp peanut butter (190 kcal, 8g protein)
  • 1 medium banana (105 kcal, 1g protein)
  • 1 cup almond milk (30 kcal, 1g protein)
  • Dash of cinnamon for some extra flavor.

Steps:

  1. In a pot, combine the oats and almond milk, bring to a simmer.
  2. Stir in the protein powder until well mixed.
  3. Slice the banana and add it in along with the peanut butter.
  4. Cook until creamy, sprinkle with cinnamon, and boom, you've got your bowl of gains!

Total macros: 745 kcal, 45g protein. I think this slaps for post-workout refueling, what do you all think? Any other hacks to up the protein while keeping it budget-friendly? Hit me up with your recipes!

You guys are talking about all these ingredients, but my kids love just the classic oats. Sometimes, simple is best. Kids don't always want all the extra stuff, ya know? But I love the creativity!

You guys are dropping some good ideas. Just keep experimenting! It's all about listening to your body and finding what fuels you best. Healthy eating can be fun, not just a chore. Everyone has different preferences, so it's cool to share these combos.

This peanut butter banana combo sounds delicious! You can also try adding some Greek yogurt on top after cooking for even more protein. Just a half cup can give you around 10g more, plus that creamy texture is to die for. Can't go wrong with a little honey drizzle too!

Ngl, you could also try mixing in some chocolate protein powder instead of vanilla. If you're a chocolate fan like me, it can turn your oats into a dessert vibe. Throw in some dark chocolate chips for good measure, and you might just level up your post-workout bowl.

Im just getting into this whole healthy eating thing, but isn't there a way to just mash up the banana and mix it in? Seems like that would save time. I'm all about efficiency with my meals

Not gonna lie, sounds a bit too fancy for me. I just want something quick that I can shove in my face after a workout. How long does this actually take to make? Asking for a friend... 😂

For more budget-friendly options, try mixing in some cottage cheese! Just a half cup can add 14g of protein and doesn't change the taste much. Plus, it's usually cheaper than protein powder. You could even mix it in at the end for a creamy finish.

Also, if you're ever craving something savory, consider adding egg whites or even a whole egg to your oats. Sounds weird, but trust me, it adds protein and a unique taste. Just think of it like a breakfast scramble!

Honestly, that calorie count seems a bit high for just oats. I'm more about the numbers, you know? A lot of people overlook the importance of tracking what you eat. Make sure you're using an app like MyFitnessPal or Cronometer to keep it real.

No cap, tracking macros can help you dial in your meals, but don't stress over it too much. I started logging on MacroFactor and found it super chill. It adjusts based on your inputs and has a lot of foods already in there, which makes it easier. You could also keep a simple manual log, but that's a bit more work.

I hear you on keeping things easy! But for me, food prep has become like a meditation. I can put on some tunes, and it's a vibe. Plus, knowing im fueling my body well feels good, especially when I mix in some fun toppings.

I love the idea of adding peanut butter! It gives those oats a nice richness. Maybe try swapping the banana for some mixed berries too? They pack antioxidants and can add a fresh twist to the flavor. Just remember, balance is key.

Man, I really like your approach to protein oats. But yeah, sometimes I feel like I need a good ol' burger instead. My energy dips if I don't mix it up. Those oats better be worth it, or else it's back to the greasy stuff for me.

Facts, dude! But honestly, if you're just looking for protein, why not just hit a shake after your workout? Oats are great, but there are days I just need something easy. Protein powder with some almond milk? Done. Keep it simple sometimes.

This slaps! I had a similar bowl the other day, but I added some protein granola on top for crunch. I think it was about 10g of protein extra. It's always nice to mix textures, and it makes it feel less like a chore to eat healthy.

It's all about finding balance! I used to just do shakes, but adding actual meals into my routine has helped my energy levels. Plus, making a meal can feel rewarding. Just depends on your day-to-day vibe.

I love this community! Just a thought: have you considered adding some chia seeds or flaxseed? They can help with digestion and add a bit of protein too. Plus, they keep you full longer, which is always a win

Dude, I get that! I used to just do protein shakes too, but now I'm trying to enjoy my food more. The effort is worth it. If you find a way to make it easy, it's really about finding what works best for your routine.
