Anyone got a solid high-protein iced coffee recipe? Looking for around 50g protein per drink!

TL;DR: Looking for high-protein iced coffee recipes with around 50g protein. Just shared my own recipe!

I just finished my first marathon, and let me tell you, the recovery is no joke. I've been trying to amp up my protein intake to help with muscle repair and growth, but I'm also craving something refreshing to sip on during this hot weather. That's where iced coffee comes in, but I need it to pack a punch with protein!

I've been experimenting a bit, and here's what I've come up with:

High-Protein Iced Coffee Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup cold brewed coffee (0 kcal)
  • 1 scoop whey protein powder (around 120 kcal, 24g protein, check your brand for specifics)
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk (15 kcal, 0.5g protein)
  • 1/2 banana (50 kcal, 0.6g protein)
  • 1 tablespoon peanut butter (90 kcal, 4g protein)
  • Ice cubes
  • Sweetener of choice (optional, but I use Stevia or a bit of honey)

Steps:

  1. Brew your coffee ahead of time and let it chill.
  2. In a blender, combine the cold coffee, protein powder, almond milk, banana, and peanut butter.
  3. Blend until smooth.
  4. Pour over ice in a tall glass.
  5. If you like it sweeter, add your preferred sweetener.
  6. Stir well and enjoy your delicious, protein-packed iced coffee!

Nutrition breakdown:

  • Total calories: ~275 kcal
  • Total protein: ~50g

This drink has been a lifesaver for my post-run recovery, plus it keeps me energized without the crash. I'd love to hear if anyone else has tried something similar or has their own twist on high-protein iced coffee. Let's keep pushing toward our fitness goals together!

Solid recipe, but just a heads up on the protein powder, some brands have questionable quality. I use a brand that's third-party tested for purity, so I know what I'm putting in my body. Also, make sure to track your macros if you're aiming for those gains consistently. MyFitnessPal is my go-to, but MacroFactor is getting good reviews too. Just something to keep in mind!

Facts! Protein-packed coffee sounds awesome, but have you ever tried adding some collagen powder too? It adds protein and is great for joints, especially after long runs. Plus, it won't mess with the taste much. But you know what they say, if it ain't a double scoop, im not interested. Keep lifting that coffee!

I love that you're prioritizing protein! But remember, it's all about balance. Have you thought about how you feel after adding all that protein? Sometimes, less is more, and a simple iced coffee with a splash of almond milk and a little vanilla might hit the spot too. It's about what works for your body and your cravings, right? Don't forget to enjoy your drinks!

Congrats on finishing your first marathon! That's an incredible achievement and I can relate to the recovery struggle. I also experimented with high-protein iced coffees after my races. I like to throw in some Greek yogurt for extra creaminess and protein, around 15g per serving. It might take the calories up a bit, but post-run nutrition is all about getting those gains. Keep going, you got this!

Love this recipe! I'm all about that high-protein life, but I also believe in listening to your body. If you feel like you need a bit more carbs after a marathon, adding some oats might help with recovery. I've blended oats into smoothies before, and it makes everything super filling. Enjoy the process and keep celebrating those wins!
