Salmon Recipes That Aren't Just Teriyaki? I Need Some Variety!

TL;DR: Looking for salmon recipes that aren't teriyaki! Tried lemon garlic and spicy baked tacos, but need more ideas

I've been on this salmon kick for a while now, but honestly, I'm getting kind of tired of teriyaki. I love salmon for its high protein and healthy fats, but I want to mix things up a bit! Here are a couple of easy recipes I've tried that are super satisfying and don't involve that sweet soy sauce flavor:

1. Lemon Garlic Salmon
Ingredients:

  • 4 oz salmon fillet
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, mix olive oil, minced garlic, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
  3. Place the salmon on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and pour the lemon-garlic mixture over it.
  4. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until the salmon flakes easily with a fork.
  5. Garnish with parsley before serving.

Macros:
Approx. 300 kcal, 30g protein, 18g fat, 0g carbs.

2. Spicy Baked Salmon Tacos
Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Corn tortillas
  • Avocado and salsa for topping

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Rub the salmon with olive oil, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  3. Bake the salmon for about 15 minutes until cooked through.
  4. Flake the salmon and serve in corn tortillas with avocado and salsa.

Honestly, I think people just get stuck in the same routine. I just throw some salmon on the grill with a spicy dry rub and call it a day. Pair it with a big salad or some roasted veggies, and u have a complete meal. Easy peasy.

I love that vibe! Salmon bagels are a whole mood. Just thinking about it makes me want to brew some coffee and enjoy brunch. Gotta love meals that make you feel good and are easy to whip up.

I just want to say that while teriyaki is good, it's a little basic for salmon! You can go wild with flavor. Try using a miso marinade or even a spicy chipotle rub. It really makes the salmon shine! Salmon's such a versatile fish.

Okay but lowkey, I prefer salmon cold. Like, on a bagel with cream cheese? It's a breakfast of champions. Add capers and you're living your best life. Who needs teriyaki?

Salmon in tacos is literally my go-to! And have you tried it with some pineapple salsa? It's a perfect summer dish. I usually do a quick sear on the salmon, flake it, and mix it with some pico de gallo. So good. No cap.

Facts. But like, if you're really trying to change it up, why not smoke the salmon? It sounds fancy, but it's pretty easy if you have a smoker or even a stovetop smoker. It just adds a whole new level of flavor. You'll never look back on boring teriyaki.

For real, smoking salmon is next level. I made some a while back with a maple glaze. It turned out so good that I forgot I was eating healthy. Just watch the portion sizes with the glaze if you're counting macros.

I think trying new things is so important! Salmon is delicious in any form, so mixing it up keeps it exciting. Plus, you're nourishing your body and getting those nutrients, which is what really matters!

For real, I think the lemon garlic recipe is a win! Super simple and it packs a punch in flavor. Quick tip, if you're cooking for a family, just double the recipe and throw in some veggies on the same sheet. Easy cleanup! Just watch your cooking times so the veggies don't get mushy. Plus, dad jokes are always an option if you need to distract the kids while waiting for the salmon to cook, right? Like, 'What did the fish say when it hit the wall? Dam!'

Not to be that person, but I just season my salmon with salt and pepper and throw it in the air fryer. It cooks super fast and you still get that crispy skin! Plus, I can prep it while juggling the kids, so it works for me.

I totally get that teriyaki can get old after a while. Have you tried making a salmon salad? Just flake your cooked salmon and toss it in with mixed greens, avocado, and a light vinaigrette. Super high in protein, low in carbs, and fresh! Also, if you really want to switch it up, smoked salmon is a great alternative. You can use it in a bagel with cream cheese or on top of a rice cake with some cucumber slices. Love the variety!

That's a great idea! I often do a similar thing with lentils on the side. It's a comforting combo that fills me up without feeling heavy. I love balancing flavors, and lentils bring a nice earthy touch alongside salmon. It's all about listening to your body!

I feel you on getting tired of teriyaki. Another great option is a mustard and dill glaze for salmon. Just mix Dijon mustard, fresh dill, a bit of honey or maple syrup, and spread it over the salmon before baking. The flavor combination is awesome! Plus, it gives you a different profile while still keeping the healthy fats in check.

If you want something quick, try a lemon butter sauce for your salmon. Melt butter, mix in lemon juice, garlic, and a bit of capers. Drizzle it over the salmon right before serving. The macros will still be solid since you're not going crazy with ingredients.

Have you tried grilling it? I throw my salmon on the grill with some lemon slices on top. It cooks super fast and tastes amazing. Plus, the kids love it when I make tacos out of it. They never complain about salmon on taco night!

And if you're into meal prep, just cook a bunch of salmon at once and store it. It reheats well, and you can throw it on salads or wraps during the week. Keeps the protein intake high with minimal effort.

I totally relate! I used to be stuck in a teriyaki rut too. Now, I love making salmon with a mango salsa on top. It adds a fresh, fruity twist that feels really indulgent without being unhealthy. Just dice some mango, red onion, and jalapeno with lime juice, and you have a refreshing topping. It's so good for summer meals!

I love how salmon can be paired with so many flavors! For a change, try pairing it with a ginger sesame dressing and serving it over a bed of quinoa. It feels really nourishing, and the ginger gives a nice kick. Just sprinkle some sesame seeds on top for added crunch.

Preach! Variety keeps meals from feeling like a chore. I usually switch up my sides too. Instead of always going for rice, try cauliflower rice or a veggie medley. Super simple but changes the whole meal.

I've done a garlic herb crust too. Just blend garlic, parsley, and a bit of olive oil and spread it over the salmon. Bake it like that, and you get this crunchy top with a tender inside. It's a nice contrast, plus you still get those healthy fats.

The air fryer is such a lifesaver! I'm all about that crispy skin too. Just don't forget to put a lemon wedge on the side for a fresh squeeze at the end. It makes such a difference in flavor and is super easy!

Honestly, I used to be all about the teriyaki too! But I started experimenting with different marinades and found that a simple mix of mustard, honey, and a splash of vinegar brings out such a unique flavor in salmon. I really like how it pairs with a side of roasted veggies. If you're open to sweet and savory, that combo is fire! Plus, it's nice to feel like you're not stuck in a food rut.
