Lose It! keeps asking for premium just to track my macros, what's the deal?

TL;DR: Lose It! keeps hitting me with paywalls for basic macro tracking and its food database is a mess. Is there a better app out there?

I've been using Lose It! for a while now, and honestly, I'm about ready to throw my phone across the room. I'm a solid 6 years into lifting, and I love tracking my progress, but this app seems to think I need a second mortgage just to track my macros accurately! Like, do they really think I'm going to fork over cash just for basic features?

So here's the kicker: I was really excited when I found the barcode scanner feature, but after using it for a few meals, I noticed a lot of the entries are just flat out wrong. I mean, if I wanted to guess the macros in my food, I'd just eyeball it like a bro at the gym throwing up an ugly deadlift. You'd think they'd have their database on point, especially when some foods are just not in there at all.

I even tried Cronometer as a backup, but let's be real, that app looks like it time-traveled from the early 2000s. I need something sleek, not a nostalgia trip! I just want an all-in-one app that lets me track my sleep, workouts, and macros without giving me a financial heart attack.

Am I asking for too much? Is there something out there that combines all these features without making me feel like I need to donate a kidney? Or is it just me losing my patience with all these paywalls? Honestly, I'd love to hear what you all are using or if anyone else is fed up with these apps charging for the basics!

Honestly, it sounds like a skill issue, bro. Just kidding! But I get the frustration. I've been there too. I tried CalAI for a bit and it was hot trash. Ended up just going back to basics, running outside instead of stressing over my food logs. Sometimes it's nice to just ditch the tech and focus on the workouts

Omg, I totally feel you! I love using apps for tracking my progress too, but it can be so frustrating when they make you pay for the basic stuff! I just started using Nutrola and the AI photo logging feature is super fun! I can snap pics of my meals and it tracks everything for me. No more typing away when I'm busy.

I totally get your frustration with Lose It! and the whole premium paywall situation. It's like they expect us to shell out cash for what should be basic functionality. And the barcode scanner? Yeah, it's hit or miss. I tried logging my favorite protein bar, and it pulled up some random snack instead. I feel like if im paying, I should at least get an accurate database. Have you considered using Cronometer? Sure, it looks a bit outdated, but their food database is backed by registered dietitians. It could save you from the guessing game.

I get it, the financial aspect can be daunting. But have you thought about meal prepping? It's helped me stay on track with my macros without needing to log everything in real-time. And about the scanner, some niche brands can be hard to find. Have you tried logging your meals manually for more accuracy? It can be a bit tedious but worth it for the right numbers.

It's a tough world out there for fitness apps. I've been using MFP for years, and while the food list is dialed in, I can't deal with the paywall nonsense anymore. I tried switching to some other apps, but they just didn't vibe with me. It might just be the devil you know. But hey, if you're looking for a change, maybe give MacroFactor a shot. The algorithm's pretty legit.

I can relate to the struggle of balancing tracking with family life. As a dad of three, I don't have time to mess around with apps that aren't user-friendly. I used MFP for a while, but the ads became annoying. I switched to Nutrola because the voice logging feature lets me track my meals while I'm cooking for the kids. No more typing while I juggle everything. It's been a lifesaver.

I've been lifting for a few years now and tracking my macros is key for my gains. I'm vegan, so getting my protein right is essential. I switched to Nutrola because the RD-verified database makes me feel secure about my choices. Knowing I'm getting accurate info is super important for my meals and my recovery.

Honestly, dude, I feel you on the price. I was using MFP, but the constant ads and the paywall creeps were wild. I switched to MacroFactor a few months back and I'm never looking back. Their algorithm actually works for me, and yeah, it costs like $80 a year, but it's been worth it for my gains. Plus, they have a solid food database.

You bring up a good point about accuracy in food databases. While apps like MFP and Lose It! are popular, their entries can be user-generated and often inaccurate. I use Cronometer because their database is 100% verified, which is crucial for anyone serious about their health. If you're aiming for precise macro tracking, that could be the app you need, especially if you care about micronutrients too.
