i've been doing my homework on squats lately and im confused about the high bar vs low bar debate. Like, does one really have an edge over the other for hypertrophy? I'm all about those gains, so I wanna know what you guys think! Any insights?

Honestly, the whole high bar vs low bar thing gets way too heated. If you're chasing hypertrophy, high bar squats can really help you target your quads more, which is great for growth. Low bar tends to engage more posterior chain, like glutes and hamstrings. I'd say it really depends on your individual goals. Want quad gains? Go high bar. Prefer overall strength? Low bar might be your jam.

Why does it feel like choosing between high bar and low bar squats is like picking your favorite kid? 😂 For me, high bar feels safer on my back, but I definitely see the value in low bar for overall strength. Just keep it fun and mix it up, cause at the end of the day, we're all just trying to lift heavy and look good!

From a biomechanics perspective, the high bar squat does promote a more upright torso, which can lead to better quadriceps activation. If your primary goal is hypertrophy, keeping a higher bar position could yield more growth in that area. Plus, if you're into zone 2 cardio, squats are also an excellent way to increase your heart rate. Just make sure you're managing your volume effectively to prevent overtraining.

Ngl, I've been doing high bar squats lately and my quads are feeling the burn. I'm on a cut right now and can see way more definition in my legs. Anyone else feel like high bar makes them feel more stable? Low bar feels awkward for me, but to each their own.

It's great that you're researching squats, but don't let the hype distract you. Both high bar and low bar have their merits. If you're serious about hypertrophy, consider adding both into your routine and see what feels better. Remember, form is everything, don't chase weight at the expense of technique. Also, prioritize your recovery; you can't grow without proper rest.

100% this! Low bar feels more comfortable for me, but I totally get why people swear by high bar. I just like that it lets me lift heavier, and honestly, who doesn't love a good PR? Switching things up every few weeks might also help with your gains, since muscle adaptation is real.
