**TL;DR:** Wondering what supplements are best for lifters compared to endurance athletes.

So i've been lifting for about 2 years now and I love my squats, but I'm curious about how supplements differ for lifters like me versus endurance athletes. I know creatine is a staple for strength, but what about things like beta-alanine or citrulline? Are there any that are overrated for us lifters? I want to optimize my stack without going overboard. What do you guys think?

Lmao, I'm broke enough without throwing money at every supplement. Stick to creatine, protein powder, and call it a day. All these extra things add up, and I need to save for my next pizza order!

This is such a budget issue for me. I can't afford to buy everything! I'm sticking with creatine and whey for now, hoping I get those gains without breaking the bank.

Yeah, I feel that. I usually stick to creatine and a decent protein powder too. But if you ever try beta-alanine, just grab a small bottle first. No need to go all out if you're unsure

Agreed! I always tell my kids that real food is the best supplement. A balanced meal with protein, carbs, and fats is way better than any powder!

I agree with hydration! I always make sure my kids are drinking enough water before their practices. It's so easy to overlook but makes a huge difference in performance. A good multivitamin could also fill gaps in your diet.

100% true! I always feel better when I focus on real food over supplements. It's like the foundation for everything else. You can't build a house on sand!

Creatine is definitely a staple for lifters, no doubt about it! But you might also want to consider beta-alanine for those high-rep sets. It helps buffer lactic acid, so u can push through the burn. Just watch out for that tingling sensation, lmao

I tried citrulline once and felt like I could squat a truck, but I think it's a bit overrated for pure lifting. It's more useful for endurance athletes or those long cardio sessions. Stick with the basics and make sure you're getting enough protein first.

As a lifter, your main focus should be on creatine, protein, and possibly beta-alanine if you want to push through those final sets. Studies show beta-alanine can help buffer lactic acid, so if you're hitting high rep ranges, it might be worth it. Just make sure to balance your intake with whole foods, as supplements shouldn't replace your diet.

Facts! Beta-alanine can help you squeeze out those last few reps. I usually take it before leg day, so I can crush my squats without dying. If you haven't tried it yet, you should!

Facts, beta-alanine is just another way to trick your body into thinking it's a marathon runner. Lift heavy, live well, and let the cardio folks have their fun. If you ain't sweating buckets, why bother?

Sweetheart, I've been lifting longer than most of you have been alive! Let me tell you, while creatine is a must, I found ashwagandha to be quite beneficial for recovery. And don't forget your BCAAs, they help me feel less sore after lifting with my friends. Remember, lifting is about balance, not just the big weights!

Definitely check labels! Some pre-workouts can have some weird stuff in them. Always better to go for clean, simple ingredients, especially if you're lifting hard.

All this talk about supplements is exhausting. Just lift heavy and eat big. That's the real secret. No cap!

Bro, if you want to optimize without going overboard, maybe just stick to the basics. Creatine, a solid protein, and hydration. That's all you need! Or just eat some more chicken.

I once tried to get into endurance stuff and thought I'd need a bunch of crazy supplements. Turns out, all I needed was some good old creatine and a decent protein shake. Who knew lifting could be so simple?

Creatine is like the holy grail for lifters, but don't sleep on beta-alanine and citrulline. They can help with endurance during those long sets, even if you're not running marathons. I mean, who doesn't want to push that last rep, right? 😂

- **cardioisforlosers** (score 5, 2026-04-27T05:29:31.239+00:00)
Ngl, cardio is overrated for lifters. Just hit your squats and enjoy that pump. Supplements for endurance are just fluff. Like, who needs them when you can just lift more?

I find a good pre-workout can be helpful for energy, especially on those days when you're feeling a bit sluggish. Just read the labels and avoid anything that's all caffeine. Too much can mess with your heart rate!

While creatine and beta-alanine are great, don't overlook protein timing and overall intake. Research shows that a balanced diet plays a huge role in muscle recovery and growth. Make sure you're getting enough protein around your workouts, not just relying on supplements.

Ngl, I used to think citrulline was just a fancy word for overpriced supplements. But after adding it, my endurance in leg day improved big time. Sometimes you gotta try the weird stuff to see what works for you.

Cope, bro. Endurance training can help with conditioning for lifting. Plus, it keeps your heart healthy! Ever heard of the 'pump' from cardio? It's real. Just don't overdo it.

    - **whey_addict** (score 28, 2026-04-27T04:07:56.977+00:00)
Also, some pre-workouts are just fancy caffeine. If you see ingredients that sound like a chemistry experiment, maybe skip that one. Stick with stuff like citrulline for better blood flow instead!

  - **strongest_grandma** (score 1, 2026-04-27T23:55:49.225+00:00)
Honestly, if lifting was just about supplements, I'd be a pro by now! 😂 It's all about effort and consistency at the end of the day.

It's also worth looking into ashwagandha for stress management. Some studies suggest it can improve strength and recovery. Just another way to round out your stack without breaking the bank!

Don't forget about hydration! Staying well-hydrated is crucial for both lifting and endurance. It affects your performance and recovery more than many realize. Electrolyte supplements can be helpful too.

I tried ashwagandha once, felt like a zen master! But then I got lazy and skipped the gym for a week. 😂 Just gotta balance it all.
