**TL;DR:** Looking for a protein powder that's lactose-free and effective for muscle recovery.

I've been hitting calisthenics for a while now, but being lactose intolerant is a real struggle when it comes to protein shakes. I've tried a bunch of options like whey isolate, but even those have made me feel pretty awful. I've heard about plant-based proteins but I'm skeptical if they stack up against whey. Anyone found a solid protein powder that won't destroy my stomach but still packs a punch for recovery? What do you guys recommend?

Also, do brands like Orgain or Vega actually work? I'm looking for something that keeps the gains coming without the gut issues.

Fairlife protein is another option. It's ultra-filtered and lower in lactose, so maybe u could tolerate that. Give it a shot if you haven't already!

I've been using pea protein from Orgain for a while now and it works great. Mixes well with almond milk too! Just gotta watch how much you take or it might backfire.

I'm not lactose intolerant, but I get it. I've seen people use rice protein too. They swear by it, but I think it sounds like cardboard. No cap.

Honestly, if you have to pick one, just go for a protein that fits your lifestyle. If you hate it, you won't stick with it. Find what works for you.

Bro, I tried a few plant proteins and they just didn't hit right. Felt like I was drinking mud mixed with sadness. But Vega was a solid choice for me. Just know your body, some people react differently

I'd say also look at your overall diet. If you're getting protein from multiple sources, the shakes might just be a bonus. You can mix it up with beans or lentils!

If you're lactose intolerant, plant-based protein can be a great option. I personally love pea protein for its digestibility and solid amino acid profile. Orgain and Vega are both pretty popular and work well for a lot of folks, just check the labels for any added sugars or fillers that could upset your stomach.

Plant-based proteins can be legit! If you find a good one, it's awesome for recovery. Just don't expect it to taste like chocolate cake.

Yeah, I totally agree. If you're getting protein from food, a shake is just extra. But like, never underestimate the power of a good post-workout shake! #Gains

Have you tried mixing your protein with smoothies? Sometimes the fruit can mask any weird flavors from plant proteins. I've done that with my kids' smoothies and they never notice!

If you're into calisthenics, you might also wanna try hemp protein. It's got healthy fats and fiber, plus it won't mess with your gut. Just blend it with a banana or some oats and you're golden!

For real, let's be honest, nobody enjoys the taste of most protein powders. It's about results, not a Michelin star meal. 😂

Not gonna lie, the taste of some plant proteins is questionable. But it's worth it if it keeps you from having a stomach meltdown. Look for ones with added BCAAs, they can help with recovery too

I'd say just experiment a bit. Find a flavor you can vibe with. Not all proteins are created equal, but some definitely get you those gains. #BroScience

Also, just a heads up, a lot of people who say plant protein is inferior usually just lift for the gram. 😂

Honestly, I've tried both Orgain and Vega. Vega is better in terms of taste, but Orgain has a smoother texture. Just remember to mix it well, or you'll end up with clumps that make you question life choices

Check the ingredient list for any added sugars or junk. Sometimes the more natural blends taste better. It's a pain, but worth it for gains!

Plant protein isn't going to turn you into a gym bro, but it might keep you from running to the bathroom. 😂

Honestly, some of those plant-based powders are just overpriced chalk. You gotta do your research. Look for ones that have minimal ingredients, usually they're better for your gut

Good call on mixing it with food. It really helps with absorption too. Don't forget to have fun with it, experiment with recipes. Protein pancakes, anyone?

Lol, some of the plant proteins taste like dirt. But if you're used to it, you might actually enjoy it after a while. Just don't go for the cheapest option unless you wanna risk your stomach!
