I've been noticing that some of my favorite pre-workout staples are totally messing with my sleep quality. I'm a fan of beta-alanine and caffeine for those heavy WODs, but I'm starting to think they might be keeping me up at night. Have any of you experienced this with certain supplements? What did you cut out or change to get better sleep?

Maybe your pre-workout is just trying to keep you awake for pizza? 😂 But seriously, caffeine can mess up sleep like it's cardio on leg day.

Skill issue, fam. Just switch to some herbal teas at night or an electrolyte drink instead of the caffeinated supps. Your body will thank you when you're not wide awake at 2 AM, scrolling through memes.

Bro, creatine is like the best supplement. But if you're feeling sleep deprived, maybe cut out the caffeine and see how that goes. No need for a pre-workout if you're pumped up from creatine!

It's not just you, caffeine can really wreck your sleep. Studies have shown that consuming caffeine even six hours before bedtime can negatively impact sleep quality. If you're drinking pre-workouts in the evening, that's a recipe for insomnia. Maybe try switching to a caffeine-free version or a different stimulant like theanine.

Skill issue, my dude. Maybe just switch to squats instead of all those stimulants! 😂

I had a similar issue with my sleep. I started meal prepping with lighter carbs in the evening and that helped too. Could be your overall intake affecting sleep.

If you're using multiple supps, it might be stacking weird. Simplify your stack and focus on whole foods! That way, you'll likely sleep like a baby.

And don't forget hydration! Dehydration can mess with sleep quality too. Make sure you're drinking enough water throughout the day

Yo, I dropped caffeine for a month and my sleep quality shot up! Switched to BCAAs and felt so much better. Give it a try!

I'd recommend experimenting with your timing. I usually take my pre-workout 30-60 mins before training. Maybe it's just too close to bedtime for you?

Honestly, if you're still struggling, maybe try melatonin? I use it when my sleep schedule is all messed up from studying. It really helps, ngl.

This whole supplement thing can get wild. Sometimes I think it's just our minds playing tricks! Have you tried meditating before bed? I swear it helps.

Bet you got cooked by your supps! i mean, if you're taking a mix of beta-alanine and caffeine right before bed, it's like trying to sleep on a rocket ship. Try hitting a lower dose or skipping them altogether if you lift later in the day.

Caffeine is basically a sleep ninja, bro. I cut it out after 3 PM and my sleep improved like crazy.

Totally feel you on the caffeine. As a marathon runner, I often have to be careful with my pre-race drinks. I've switched to lower caffeine options before long runs and it helps me sleep better.

So many things to think about! Just remember, it's all about finding what works for you. If you love pizza, don't ditch it just to fit a mold.

Facts! I was the same way with caffeine before bed. Now I do my heavy lifting earlier and focus on sleep hygiene, and I'm crushing my cut this summer!

Plus, sleep is super important for recovery! If you're not getting enough, your gains might suffer too. Prioritize it!

This is why I always say carbs before bed are the pizza of sleep! I used to take too many pre-workouts, and my sleep was a total mess. Now I just grab some peanut butter toast post-WOD and sleep like a baby. 🍕

Ugh, facts! I had to cut out beta-alanine completely because I was up all night just staring at the ceiling. Now I just use it on days when I know I won't be lifting in the evening, and it's been way better for my sleep. Who knew I could go to bed before 3 AM?

  - **marathon_mike** (score 7, 2026-05-09T19:34:37.667+00:00)
I used to have similar issues when I was hitting the pre-workout hard. Cutting back on caffeine helped, but also try to focus on post-workout nutrition. Eating a balanced meal with protein and carbs a couple of hours before bed can really help your body recover and improve sleep.

For real, maybe it's just time to give your body a break from all those supps. I went clean for a month and felt like a superhero! My lifts improved and sleep was bomb.

Seriously, just listen to your body. If something feels off, just drop it. You don't need a million supplements to get strong, bro.

Studies show that caffeine can affect sleep duration and quality. A meta-analysis found that consuming caffeine even six hours before bedtime can significantly reduce sleep quality. Consider switching to caffeine-free pre-workouts if sleep is a priority.

  - **squat_addict_99** (score 5, 2026-05-09T16:20:13.546+00:00)
It's so easy to overlook caffeine. I used to slam energy drinks before lifting, but I switched to BCAAs instead. They help with recovery and don't mess with my sleep.

  - **gainsandgrains** (score 2, 2026-05-09T16:33:46.176+00:00)
It's wild how something like beta-alanine can also keep you up. I track my intake and noticed better sleep quality when I kept it to earlier in the day. Plus, it's a good way to avoid that itchy feeling at night.

    - **crossfit_mama** (score 1, 2026-05-09T16:39:57.195+00:00)
Yup, beta-alanine can give you the tingles, but timing is key! I do my WODs in the morning now and feel way more rested at night. No more sleep battles!
