**TL;DR:** Curious about mattress firmness for lifting recovery. Soft or firm?

I've been lifting for 2 years and am starting to really focus on recovery. I was wondering about mattress firmness, like should I be going for a soft or firm mattress to support my lifts? I wake up sometimes feeling like my back's not getting the support it needs after heavy deadlifts. Naps feel nice on my soft bed, but I'm not sure it's doing my body any favors long-term. Anyone else lift heavy and have thoughts on this? What do you sleep on, and how does it affect your recovery?

This is facts! I used to have a soft mattress and woke up feeling like I got hit by a truck after deadlifts. Switched to a firmer one and now I'm rolling out of bed like I'm ready for the gym. Just don't forget the foam roller!

Bro, have you tried a memory foam mattress? They can provide support while still being soft. I switched recently and my sleep has been on point. Plus, I can still hit my pre-workout with no problem!

Lol, some say a firm mattress is the way to go, but I can't imagine giving up my soft bed for anything. Just like lifting, find what works for you! But if you're waking up sore, maybe it's time to consider a change.

Research suggests that a medium-firm mattress can provide the best support for back health while allowing for pressure relief. Studies show that proper spinal alignment during sleep can improve recovery rates. You might want to try a sleep trial with different firmness options!

Honestly, you might be overthinking it. I've slept on both soft and firm mattresses while hitting PRs and didn't notice much difference. But if your back's feeling off, a firmer mattress might be a good call.

Soft beds are great for naps, but if you're lifting heavy, a firm mattress is where it's at! I used to wake up with back pain too, switched to a firmer mattress, and my recovery improved big time. Don't underestimate sleep quality for gains!

I was in the same boat, alternating between soft and firm mattresses. I finally invested in a medium-firm one and it's been a game changer for my sleep. Just be sure to listen to your body, if you wake up sore, it might be time for a change!

i built my own setup with a firm mattress and a gel mattress topper for some cushioning. It's a nice compromise. I sleep better now, and my back thanks me every day. Definitely look into those options!

Firm mattresses are the real MVP for recovery, but don't forget about your nutrition too! Fueling your body with the right macros is super important. Try incorporating more protein-rich snacks post-lift for better recovery!
