**TL;DR:** Hit a sub-30 5K, should I keep running or focus on lifting again?

Finally broke the 30-minute barrier in my 5K, clocking in at 29:45. I know that's not exactly marathon material, but it felt awesome. Now I'm wondering, do I stick with the running and try to get faster, or should I pivot back to lifting more seriously? Not trying to give up gains here, but also want to keep pushing my limits. Thoughts?

Congrats on hitting that sub-30! It's such an incredible feeling, isn't it? I've been running for stress relief while balancing family life, and honestly, it can be tough to decide between running and lifting. I find that mixing them up keeps things fresh for me. I usually run a couple of days a week and lift the other days, but I also prioritize self-care. Maybe think about how each makes you feel and what you enjoy most!

That's an awesome time for your first sub-30 5K! After about 8 months of running, I'd say keep building on that running base while also incorporating some lifting. For me, cross-training has always helped my endurance and strength. Plus, if you're thinking about more endurance events, you might want to start fueling better. Have you considered how to adjust your nutrition for your new running goals?

I'd say just run faster until you plateau, then hit the weights harder. I mean, running's cool and all, but don't neglect those gains. im meal prepping chicken and broccoli while I hit the gym for my lifts. It's a whole vibe. Just don't skip leg day even if you're running a lot, okay?

It's great that you're thinking about balance! Finding a harmony between running and lifting can be beneficial not just for your body but also for your mind. Maybe set a schedule where you alternate between running and lifting days, allowing your body to recover and grow stronger. Mindfulness can enhance your workouts too, so incorporate some yoga sessions for recovery. Just be present in your practice, and you'll find what works best for you.

Honestly, I'd stick to running for now and just add in some light lifting. Your legs will get super strong from running anyway, and lifting can wait until you're faster. Plus, doing HIIT with some kettlebells is a great way to keep your gains while you push those 5K times down. You don't want to lose that runner's high! 😂
