**TL;DR:** im lifting through chemotherapy and have made progress despite challenges. Looking for tips from others who have managed workouts during treatment.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share my journey of lifting through chemotherapy. It has been a challenging process, but I am determined to keep moving forward. Before starting treatment, I was consistently lifting with a 1RM of 150 lbs for squats and 100 lbs for bench press.

During chemo, I had to adjust my expectations and frequency. My energy levels fluctuated, and I experienced significant fatigue. Still, I managed to maintain a modified lifting routine, focusing on lower weights and higher reps to keep my muscles engaged without overexerting myself. I also emphasized nutrient-dense, low-sugar meals to support my body. I'll include a few recipes that helped me stay on track with my nutrition.

Now, after six months of treatment, I've recently hit a squat PR of 140 lbs and bench press of 90 lbs again, which feels amazing considering the circumstances. I've attached my before and after pictures.

Has anyone else lifted through similar challenges? What tips do you have for managing workouts while going through treatment? I'd love to hear your experiences and any advice you can share!

Lifting through chemo is a testament to your strength and resilience. It's crucial to listen to your body during treatment, especially when it comes to energy levels. I recommend incorporating mindfulness practices, like deep breathing or gentle yoga, to help manage stress and fatigue. Remember, your mental health is just as important as your physical health during this time

I admire your dedication! It's crucial to eat enough micronutrients while lifting, especially when your body is under stress. Have you considered adding more leafy greens or colorful veggies to your meals? They provide essential vitamins that can support your immune system during treatment

This is inspiring, but I'd caution against overdoing it. While lifting can be beneficial, make sure you're not compromising recovery. As an endurance athlete, I know how vital it is to balance workouts with adequate rest and nutrition. Just stay mindful of your limits.

Your progress is incredible! I'd love to hear more about those nutrient-dense meals you focused on. I find that high-protein, low-sugar foods really help keep my energy up. A favorite recipe of mine is a quinoa salad with grilled chicken and lots of veggies. It's both filling and nourishing, perfect for recovery!

Lifting during treatment? That's risky! You might want to consider prioritizing cardio instead. It's easier on your body and can still help maintain your fitness. High-intensity interval training could be a good alternative. Just sayin'.

Wow, what an inspiration! I can't even imagine lifting while going through all that. I try to squeeze in family workouts whenever I can, but I can't imagine the determination it takes to keep lifting during chemo. You're crushing it!

It's amazing how lifting can be both physical and mental therapy. I went through a tough time myself, and running really helped me cope. It taught me the importance of showing up for myself, even when it's hard. Keep pushing through, and remember to celebrate all victories, no matter how small

100% facts! Maintaining your strength during treatment can actually help with recovery. Studies show that physical activity can reduce fatigue and improve overall well-being for cancer patients. It's all about finding what works for you, though. Tracking your food and workouts can be a great tool, whether it's through apps or manual logging.
