**TL;DR:** Started my first physique show prep, lost 10 lbs and hit PRs, but struggling with mental fatigue. Looking for advice on coping with the stress of prep.

I recently started my first prep for a physique show, and it's been a whirlwind of emotions. Over the last 12 weeks, I've seen some pretty significant changes, but I'm struggling with balancing the physical demands and the mental stress of it all. I went from 135 lbs to 125 lbs, and I've dropped my body fat percentage down to around 12%.

Training has been intense, incorporating both weightlifting and cardio. I've been following a push-pull-legs routine, focusing on hypertrophy while also fitting in about 30-45 minutes of running a few times a week. My lifts have improved, with my squat hitting 185 lbs for 5 reps, which is a PR for me! But I can't shake this feeling of pushing too hard.

Some days I feel so motivated, imagining the stage and the progress I'm making, but other days I just feel exhausted and overwhelmed. I guess I'm just looking for some insight from others who have prepped for shows. Did you feel this way too? How did u cope with the mental side of it all? Thanks for any advice you can share.

It sounds like you're doing an amazing job, both physically and mentally! I completely understand how challenging it can be to find that balance. My first prep had me fluctuating between excitement and doubt constantly. It's so important to check in with yourself and recognize when you need a break. Maybe consider incorporating some mindfulness techniques like meditation or journaling? It could really help you process those overwhelming feelings.

Facts! Cardio can be a great way to relieve stress. I've done my share of intense prep and honestly, I believe it helps clear the mind. If you can, try to mix in different types of cardio too. I found that intervals helped me stay engaged and motivated throughout the process.

Lmao, bro, prep is wild. I remember feeling like I was in a zombie state halfway through mine. Honestly, you might just need a treat meal or two, and that could lift ur spirits! Don't be too hard on yourself; you're working hard, and sometimes a little indulgence can help keep you sane.

Dude, hitting a PR on your squat while prepping is impressive! That's some serious dedication. Just keep in mind that mental fatigue is just as important as physical fatigue. Maybe think about deloading or reducing volume if you feel too worn out. You don't want to risk burnout right before the show.

I can relate! My first marathon prep had me feeling super motivated one moment and totally exhausted the next. I started journaling my feelings to help me process the emotional rollercoaster. It was eye-opening to see how my thoughts changed day by day. Don't hesitate to take a step back if you're feeling overwhelmed, it's okay to rest.

Finding balance is so essential. Remember, it's not just about physical strength but mental strength too. Yoga and breathwork can be excellent tools to help center yourself during this busy time. Consider joining a class or practicing at home to help you stay grounded. It could make a world of difference.
