**TL;DR:** Wondering if my macros should change for endurance running compared to lifting.

I've been lifting for a couple of years and recently got into endurance running. I know I need to focus on protein for muscle recovery, but I'm wondering if my macro split should change when I'm doing longer runs. Do I need more carbs for energy or is it still all about the protein? What do you all think?

I used to think protein was everything too, but learned the hard way that I need those carbs! Getting through a 10-mile run on just protein shakes? Nah, no thanks. 😂

Yep, your macros definitely need some adjusting for endurance running! Those long runs can burn through carbs like crazy, so focusing on getting enough in is super important. I usually aim for a carb-rich meal the night before a long run and make sure to refuel afterward too.

100%. I've been running for a decade and noticed that if I skimp on carbs during training, my performance tanks. I typically go for a 60/20/20 split (carbs/protein/fats) on running days. A good source of carbs for me is oatmeal with some fruit, easy and effective!

Listen up, my running buddy! I'm all for lifting and endurance, but carbs aren't just for long runs. If you don't hit your macros right, you'll feel it later, especially if you're lifting and running in the same week. My kids love it when I whip up some banana pancakes post-run; they think it's a treat!

This! I'm still figuring out my macros, but I always feel better when I eat carbs before a run. I get so anxious about eating enough that I sometimes end up with random snacks instead of an actual meal. 😂 But I'm working on it!

Facts! Carbs are crucial for energy during long runs. As a vegan, I love my sweet potatoes and quinoa for that carb boost. Plus, you can't forget about hydration, that's just as important!
