So, i've got this South African braai coming up and I'm stressing about how to fit my macros into the mix. I can already smell the boerewors and braai'd chicken, but I need to keep my protein game strong. Any tips on how to enjoy the food while still sticking to my targets? Do I just eyeball it, or is there a strategy here? Help a nurse out!

Eyeballing it can work if you know your portion sizes. I'd say stick to the lean meats like chicken and boerewors, but be careful with the sides. Those pap and braai bread can sneak up on your macros.

I think tracking can get overwhelming at events. If it helps, I've used MyFitnessPal for quick estimates. Just scan barcodes if they're available. Plus, you can add custom foods for your favorite braai items. Makes it easier to hit your targets

Honestly, at my last braai, I just focused on the meats and skipped the sides. My kids were hogging the pap anyway! I ended up feeling way less guilty and had a blast. Just enjoy the time with friends!

I feel like a braai is all about balance. Have a few protein-heavy options, but don't shy away from enjoying the vibe. Maybe set a macro limit before you go so you can enjoy the night. As long as you don't go full carnivore, you should be fine!

i get it, bro. Braais can be a budget killer too! If you want to hit protein targets, try loading up on the meat first, then maybe throw in a veggie side. You'll be full and hit those gains without breaking the bank

Just avoid anything creamy or cheesy if you can. My lactose intolerance usually sends me running for the hills at these events! Stick to the grilled stuff, and you should be golden. Unless someone tries to serve you a cheese platter, then all bets are off.
