**TL;DR:** Did keto for 2 years, bloodwork showed negative results. Anyone else feel this? Looking for macro advice.

I went full-on keto for 24 months, thinking I was nailing my nutrition and performance for calisthenics. I felt like a beast at first, but recently got my bloodwork back and it's not looking great. My cholesterol is through the roof and my doctor isn't exactly stoked about it.

I get that keto works for some, but was it just me or has anyone else felt the negative effects over time? I want to be strong and healthy, not just shredded! Looking for thoughts on how to adjust my macros moving forward, maybe even back to a more balanced diet?

Also, any tips on nutrient timing for bodyweight workouts would be fire!

100% agree, the carbs gotta be high-quality. I used to do keto too, but my strength took a hit. Switched to a higher-carb plan and my lifts went up like crazy! Just remember to keep tracking your macros to avoid going overboard.

I feel you on this. I went low-carb for a while, thinking it would help my running. After a few months, my endurance tanked, and my bloodwork showed elevated cholesterol too. I switched back to a more balanced diet, adding healthy carbs, and my performance improved significantly. Always listen to your body and adjust when needed!

Ngl, tracking is so important. I tried to go without it and my nutrition went downhill fast. Apps can make it easier, but sometimes I just write it all down. Whatever works for you, right?

Bro, calisthenics is all about feeling good and being functional. If your bloodwork is off, it's a sign that something isn't right. Focus on whole foods and maybe mix in some complex carbs for that extra energy. You'll crush those workouts, trust me.

True, but it's easy to get caught up in the hype. I've seen people yo-yo on diets, and it really messes with their progress. Keep it simple and stick to what works for your body in the long run

I love cooking and experimenting with different recipes! If you're looking to reintroduce carbs, try some fun dishes like quinoa salad or sweet potato tacos. They're nutritious and delicious! Keeping variety in your meals can help with your transition.

For sure, timing ur carbs can really give you that extra edge. I typically eat some fruit before my workouts to keep my energy up. Just try to listen to your body; it knows what it needs.

Honestly, if you felt great at first, it could be your body getting used to something new. After 24 months, it might need a reset. If you're switching things up, maybe do a gradual increase in carbs, especially around workouts

If you're feeling adventurous, try meal prepping some high-fiber options too. It can help with cholesterol levels. I've found that meals with lots of veggies and whole grains keep me feeling fuller and healthier.

If you go back to carbs, go for the good stuff like brown rice or sweet potatoes! I find those keep my energy up without the crash. Plus, my lifts have been way better since I added more carbs back into my diet.

If you have a chronic illness, switching diets can be tricky. I deal with my own issues and have found that gradually adding foods back helps me avoid flare-ups. Pay attention to how you feel as you transition

Keto was tough for me too, but I switched back to a more balanced diet and started feeling way better. You might also want to time your carb intake around your calisthenics workouts. That can help with performance.

I feel for you! Bloodwork can be a tough wake-up call. You might want to consider using an app like Cronometer to track more than just macros. It can help you monitor micronutrients too, which is crucial for overall health.

Just remember that everyone's journey is different. What worked for me might not be your path. I think finding a balance that keeps your body happy and your mind clear is the goal.

Hey, have you tried working out with a buddy? It makes a huge difference! I find that having someone there keeps you motivated, plus you can share tips on macros and timing. If you're thinking of going back to a balanced diet, maybe incorporate some carb cycling too. It could be a good middle ground

Honestly, I've seen plenty of people drop the keto diet for the same reasons. Sure, it's great for weight loss initially, but long-term effects on cholesterol can be rough. Just a heads up, if you go back to carbs, ease into it. Don't want to shock your system.

I appreciate the concern, but I'd argue that keto does work for some people. Just not everyone can handle it long-term. Just make sure you're adjusting in a way that feels right for you

Not to be rude, but if keto was working for you at first, maybe it's not keto that's the problem? Sometimes it's just not sustainable long-term. I hit a plateau on keto too, then I switched to more balanced macros and PR'd my deadlift. Maybe it's time to find what really works for you.

Yo, don't stress too much! I've been on my own journey, and honestly, life is about balance. Just keep an eye on your health markers, and don't forget to enjoy your food! Dad life has taught me that a happy plate leads to a happy dad.

Facts. If your bloodwork is off, it might be a sign to check other things too, like stress or hydration. I know I've slipped on both when life gets hectic, and it shows up in my results.

Keto can really throw a wrench in your bloodwork, especially over time. I was on it for about a year, and my doctor warned me about my cholesterol too. I started incorporating more whole grains and fruits, and it made a huge difference in my energy levels and overall health. Balance is key, my friend.

I agree with that! Listening to your body is so crucial. I started paying more attention to how I felt after meals, and it helped me a lot. Finding what works for you personally is the best approach.

100% this! Carbs are not the enemy. When I was on keto, I felt sluggish and my lifts suffered. Now I load up on whole grains and fruit, and my energy is through the roof. Plus, I've found that pre-workout carbs really help my performance, especially for calisthenics!

Tracking your food can really make a difference. I do better when I meal prep with a friend. Keeps me accountable and makes sure I get a good balance of everything I need. Maybe find a buddy to work on this with you!
