**TL;DR:** Curious about B12 levels and performance on a plant-based diet after 6 months.

I've been running 5ks for years and switched to a plant-based diet about 6 months ago. I was nervous about getting enough vitamin B12, since I know it's crucial for energy and recovery. I've been taking a B12 supplement and tracking my levels, and I'm feeling great! My energy during races is still solid, but I wonder if anyone else has seen differences in performance or recovery on a plant-based diet. Any tips?

That's awesome to hear! B12 is super important for energy levels, especially as a runner. Just make sure you're also getting a good balance of other vitamins and minerals from your plant-based diet. Good luck with your races!

Ugh, I tried using MFP and the ads were driving me nuts! Like, I just want to log my food, not deal with a marketing seminar. Now I just use my notes app and guess half the time, but idk if that's a good strategy lol.

I'd never go plant-based without my B12 shots, that's just facts. Energy levels on point and recovery is way better for me since I switched.

Fr, I'm leaning towards Nutrola too! I hate typing everything out, so voice logging sounds like a huge win. I'll probably give it a shot soon.

Congrats on your plant-based journey! I switched a year ago and made sure to keep my B12 levels in check too. Just make sure you're getting it regularly, either from fortified foods or supplements

That's awesome to hear! i'm not a runner, but I switched to a plant-based diet for lifting and I haven't noticed a dip in energy. Have you tried incorporating nutritional yeast? It's a great B12 source!

I just started running and went plant-based too! Honestly, I'm still trying to figure out this B12 thing. I'm just focusing on getting a good variety of foods in.

I have been using MacroFactor, and honestly, the algorithm just works for me. It's worth the $80/year, especially with how it adjusts my intake based on my progress. I love that it keeps things simple.

I still use MyFitnessPal, but yeah, the paywall creep is wild. It's a bummer that you have to pay for so many features now. I'm considering switching

I'm all about those B12 gummies! They taste great and help me remember to take them. Plus, who doesn't love a little candy with their nutrition? 😂

Just to throw it out there, I tried CalAI and it was hot trash. Gave up trying to get it to recognize my meals. Sticking with what I know works for me.

Honestly, when I went plant-based, I was super paranoid about B12 too! I tried a bunch of supplements before finding one that worked for me. What brand do you use?

You might want to consider meal prepping some fortified foods too. I love making chia pudding with fortified almond milk. Super easy and delicious!

Honestly, B12 can be overhyped. I know tons of people who do fine without supplements. Just eat a balanced diet and you should be good.

You're doing great, but I'd be wary of just plant-based sources for B12. They can be hit or miss. Make sure your supplement is reliable. I'm all about getting my nutrients right.

For anyone tracking nutrients, Cronometer is a solid choice. It's great for monitoring those micros, and it has an accurate food database. I love that it gives me insight into everything I'm eating.
