**TL;DR:** Struggling with nutrition during cancer treatment, do macros even matter?

So, I've been dealing with some cancer treatment bullshit lately, and all this macro talk feels kinda pointless when I can barely keep food down. Registered dietitian here, so I know the importance of nutrition, but like, does it even matter if I can't eat the right stuff? Any insights on what to focus on when your body's just not vibing with food? I feel like a walking protein shake right now, and that's not really my jam.

Seriously, what's the deal with hitting macros in this situation? Any RDs or coaches out there with real talk on this?

Help a girl out!

I had a friend go through treatment and all the macro talk was BS for her. She focused on whatever she could handle, even if that was just ice cream or pudding. Sure, it's not the 'right' food, but maintaining some calories and a little joy in food matters more than hitting macros when you're feeling like crap.

100% agree with nurse_on_weights! It's crucial to prioritize your body's needs. Focus on nutrient-dense foods that are easy to digest, like smoothies with protein powder, nut butters, and fruit. If you're struggling with solid food, liquid options might help you get some calories in without feeling overwhelmed.

It's tough out here, I feel u. I know a lot of college students struggle with food during finals. When I had a hectic week, I relied on smoothies, yogurt, and quick snacks that were easy to grab. Maybe try prepping small portions of things you can tolerate when you feel up to it.

Honestly, who gives a shit about macros when you're just trying to keep food down? I was in a similar spot with a bad stomach bug, and I'd have traded my entire meal plan for some plain toast that didn't want to fight me. Just eat what you can, seriously.

Hitting macros isn't going to help if you're not eating enough. Focus on easy-to-digest foods and try to balance protein with carbs and fats when you can. If you're feeling nauseous, sometimes ginger tea or lemon can help settle ur stomach

Macros do matter, but not in the way you think during cancer treatment. Your body is in a tough spot right now, and you might need to focus on what you can actually eat rather than hitting exact numbers. Aim for higher protein sources and healthy fats if you can tolerate them. Even small amounts of food can help maintain strength and energy.

Facts! Like, if you're down to a protein shake, just make it a good one. Get some fiber in there too if possible. I've thrown in spinach, avocado, or even oats to make it a bit more filling. Sometimes, it's about survival, not strict dieting.

I totally get it. Cancer treatment can mess up your appetite like crazy. When I had a rough patch, I found that just staying hydrated was a win. If food's a struggle, have you tried sipping on broths or light soups? They're usually easier to handle and still give you some nutrients.
