**TL;DR:** Looking for tips to improve my snatch and clean technique as a newbie Olympic lifter.

Hey coaches! I'm a total newbie in Olympic lifting and I really want to nail my snatch and clean techniques. I've been watching videos and trying to replicate them, but I feel like I'm missing some key points. I can lift okay weight, but I want my form to be spot on.

**A few things I struggle with:**
1. My grip feels awkward. How do I get a better hold?
2. I'm not sure when to engage my legs versus my back.
3. What are some common mistakes to avoid as a beginner?

I'm super excited to get better, and breakfast is my fave meal so I'm all about those gains! Any tips would be so appreciated!

I totally get the awkward grip feeling. It took me ages to find a comfortable hold. Try experimenting with grip width. Some people prefer a wider grip for the snatch, while others go narrower. Keep practicing, and don't be afraid to adjust until you find what feels right.

To improve your technique, focus on engaging your legs first, especially during the initial pull from the ground. Your legs should do most of the work before your back even comes into play. A common mistake is relying too much on the back, which can lead to injury. Keep your chest up and drive through your heels.

One mistake I see a lot is not keeping the bar close to your body during the lift. It should travel in a straight line, not out in front of you. Also, don't forget to engage your lats! They play a huge role in stabilizing your lift. Trust me, it makes a big difference.

Yesss, breakfast is the best! 🥞 Have you tried protein pancakes? They're perfect for those gains. But for lifting, maybe try eating something light before training to feel energized. And don't stress too much about perfect form right away! Just have fun and learn.

It's essential to have a good warm-up routine before you start. Dynamic stretches for your hips and shoulders can really help with your mobility. Also, try filming yourself to analyze your form. Watching your lifts can reveal mistakes you might not feel in the moment. If you see yourself struggling with certain positions, consider working on those specific areas.
