**TL;DR:** My resting heart rate dropped 12 bpm in 6 months, should I be worried?

So I've been training for about 3 years now, focusing on powerlifting but decided to add some cardio to the mix because why not? I've noticed my resting heart rate has dropped from 70 bpm to 58 bpm in just 6 months. I mean, I know it's usually a sign of improved fitness, but damn, 12 bpm seems like a lot!

I'm plant-based and all about those nutrient-dense foods, so I'm fueling my body right. Just curious if anyone else has experienced something similar or if I should be concerned. Like, do I need to see a doc or is my heart just getting super efficient? Because honestly, this shit is confusing!

Honestly, i'd be more concerned about how your body is feeling. I've been pushing heavy and barely managing my recovery. If your heart rate is dropping but you're feeling drained, that's a red flag. Make sure you're managing recovery right.

I track my macros and it's made a huge difference for me. A well-rounded diet can make or break your fitness journey. Plus, hitting your protein target really helps with muscle recovery after those heavy lifts.

A drop of 12 bpm in 6 months is definitely notable, but it sounds like your body is adapting really well to the cardio you're adding in. Improved cardiovascular fitness can lead to a more efficient heart, which is what you're seeing. Just make sure you're also paying attention to how you feel overall and not just the numbers.

That's awesome! I had a similar experience when I started adding cardio to my routine. My resting heart rate dropped too, and it felt great to see those changes. Keep up the good work with the powerlifting and cardio combo!

I would be cautious with HIIT though. It can be tough on the body, especially if you're not used to it. Just make sure you're monitoring your recovery and not pushing too hard too fast

It's fantastic that you're focusing on nutrient-dense foods as well. Proper nutrition is just as important for recovery as training is. I'd suggest incorporating more magnesium-rich foods, too, since they help with heart health.

Haha, gym fails are part of the experience! I'm always trying to share my food journey to inspire others. If you ever want a good recipe, let me know. Happy to share!

LMAO, awkward gym moments are the best! Honestly, I just stick to lifting weights and avoid cardio because I'm terrified of that happening to me. You've got more courage than I do.

You've got to watch out for overtraining too. I've done that before, thinking I could handle more. Dropped my heart rate but felt like garbage overall. Balance is everything.

While a drop like that can indicate improved fitness, it's a good idea to keep an eye on any other symptoms. Like, are you feeling fatigued, lightheaded, or anything unusual? It might not hurt to get checked out, just in case.

Balance is so true! I've felt overwhelmed before when I tried to do too much cardio and lost strength in my lifts. It's all about finding what works for you. It sounds like you're on a good path!

Recovery is crucial! I'd recommend tracking your sleep, hydration, and nutrition closely. If any of those are off, it can impact how your heart rate responds. Listen to your body; sometimes numbers can be deceiving

Seriously, keep doing what you're doing! Just don't forget to mix in some mobility work too. Helps with recovery and performance. Those gains are important!

12 bpm? Damn, that's wild. I hate cardio but my resting heart rate just stayed the same while I was lifting. Guess I gotta try harder or something.

OMG! I wish my resting heart rate would drop like that. I mostly do bicep curls, but maybe I should add some cardio too. 😂 I'm not a fan but it seems like you're on the right track.

You mentioned you're plant-based. Just curious if you're getting enough protein and iron? Those can sometimes be tricky on a plant-based diet, and they play a role in recovery and overall health. Something to consider.

Dude, that's impressive! My heart rate is usually around 60 when I'm running, but I eat a ton of whole foods. Are there any specific meals or snacks that you really love? I'm always looking for new ideas!

I love that! It's all about supporting each other and sharing what works. By the way, if you're trying to up your cardio, try mixing in some HIIT. That's been a game changer for me.

I literally walked into the gym the other day and tripped over a kettlebell. So embarrassing. 😅 But cardio does help with balance, which is something I need to work on. Guess I should take notes from you!
