I've been looking into heart rate monitors and I'm stuck between the Polar H10 and the Garmin chest strap. Both claim to be super accurate, but I'm trying to figure out which one actually delivers the goods, especially for my runs and HIIT workouts. Anyone have real-life experience with either? Help a broke college student out!

If you're into calisthenics, like me, you might not need a super high-tech monitor. But i still prefer the Polar H10 since it tracks heart rate variability, which is neat for recovery!

Facts. At the end of the day, we all just want to know if we're getting fit or if we're just wasting our time. 😂

Polar? Garmin? Just get a wristwatch and call it a day. #justsaying

i agree with you! There's nothing worse than hitting a new high in your workout and realizing your monitor wasn't working properly. Polar has kept me in check, especially during tough sessions.

Got the Garmin and it was cool until it wasn't. I think I'm in the same boat as the Polar crowd now, just because it's hard to get an accurate read when you're grinding through that final set of squats. Not saying it's all bad, but the struggle is real.

Accuracy can be tricky to measure. Have you checked out any independent reviews? Some people claim the Garmin tends to be a bit off during high-intensity efforts. Just something to think about.

Yep, I can totally relate to that. Focus on what's actually important for your training, not just the latest flashy tech. You don't need to be a tech wizard to track your progress.

In my experience, heart rate monitors are only as good as how you use them. Keep it clean, maintain the straps, and you'll see improvements no matter which brand you pick.

I bought a Garmin last year, and honestly, it just kind of works. Not super precise when I'm running hills or doing sprints. Sometimes I feel like I'm just guessing my heart rate. Could be better

I can see both sides here. It really depends on personal preferences and comfort! As long as it fits well and gives reliable readings, go for it.

Yeah, I wish I could splurge on both! But I'm sticking with the Polar for now. Any other budget-friendly suggestions while we're at it?

Honestly, u could probably just go with whatever's on sale at this point. They all get the job done. Just find something that feels right and hit the pavement!

As a busy professional, I don't have time to fiddle with tech. Both Polar and Garmin have their pros, but I found Polar easier to set up and manage while juggling my schedule.

I've used both, and I lean towards the Polar H10. It has this comfy fit and stays put during long runs. Plus, the accuracy is pretty solid! Also, it syncs with MyFitnessPal, which I love.

So I had the Garmin for a few months and it was decent. But honestly, I switched to Polar after my buddy recommended it, and I've loved the difference! Felt like I was getting better readings. Just my two cents.

Totally feel you on the budget struggle. If you're looking for something cheaper, I heard some good things about the Wahoo Tickr! Might be worth checking out.

I've been using the Polar H10 for over a year now, and I've seen consistent results, especially in my heart rate zones during workouts. It's helped me push for PRs while training for my marathon. The battery life is impressive too.

Real talk: don't let marketing hype decide for you. I mean, what's the point if both can be inaccurate in certain conditions? Check out user feedback, don't just go for brand names.

I've tried both and honestly, I preferred the Polar H10 too. It's super comfortable and I barely notice it when I'm out on a long hike. The Garmin felt bulky and like it was squeezing my chest. Plus, I could get a solid reading even when I was sweating buckets! Just my experience though.

lmao, if you want accuracy, you're gonna need a second job to afford both. Just pick one and pray it works, bro.

I'm team Polar all the way! I remember the first time I did my HIIT workout with it. I could see how hard I was really pushing myself. Plus, the fit is super snug, which is a must when doing burpees. 😂

Facts! The Polar H10 is like a reliable buddy during those tough runs. Plus, if you like to mix in some long runs or HIIT, it rly holds up well under pressure. It even pairs nicely with my Strava, which is a bonus for tracking.

Honestly, I'm in the same boat! I went with the Polar H10 because it was on sale and my wallet was crying. It works great for HIIT, but I can't compare it to Garmin.

  - **stronger_than_i_look** (score 26, 2026-05-09T01:05:52.079+00:00)
I've used both, and while the Garmin is nice, I found the Polar H10 to be more accurate during my HIIT workouts. I've had issues with the Garmin dropping signals mid-session, which is a total buzzkill.

Why did the heart rate monitor go to school? To improve its grades! 😂 But seriously, accuracy is key, so definitely look into which one gives you better data during your workouts.

Sometimes I feel like the market is flooded with too many options! I'd rather have fewer choices that are proven to work well than tons of gadgets that don't deliver.

- **broke_but_fit** (score 2, 2026-05-08T20:45:51.83+00:00)
Honestly, i went with the Polar H10 because it was on sale, and it's been solid for my runs. I don't need a million features, just something that gives me my heart rate without breaking the bank.

- **fitness_skeptic** (score 1, 2026-05-09T20:42:33.462+00:00)
I wouldn't jump to conclusions just because of brand names. I've heard mixed reviews about both. I know some folks swear by the accuracy of the Polar, but others have had great experiences with Garmin. What's the main feature you care about?
