**TL;DR:** Lose It! just hit me with a paywall for features, looking for alternatives.

So I've been using Lose It! to track my meals and workouts since I started running, and I was honestly loving it. But outta nowhere, I get hit with this paywall for features I thought were free. Like, I can't even scan my food anymore without paying! I tried Cronometer for a hot minute, but it felt a bit overwhelming for a beginner like me.

What are y'all using instead? Is there anything that doesn't pull this paywall nonsense? Help a girl out.

Honestly, I'm kind of in the same boat. I've used MFP for years and I still find it hard to leave, even with the paywall stuff. My food list is all set and switching feels like a hassle. But maybe I'll give Nutrola a shot because it sounds convenient.

Real talk, all these new AI ones make me skeptical. I'm sticking with MFP for now until I can see if any of these others are worth the switch. The food database is too well established for me to just jump ship.

Honestly, I get why you're frustrated. MFP is the same way, they just keep rolling out features behind paywalls. It's ridiculous for users who have built muscle memory with their food list. I had to switch to MacroFactor because it has a better algorithm for calorie tracking and adjusts based on your progress, which is huge for anyone serious about their gains. It's annoying to switch, but sometimes you gotta do what's best for your progress.

I switched to MacroFactor recently and it's been a game-changer for me. The way it adapts to your needs over time is just awesome. Plus, the user interface is friendly for beginners, way less intimidating than Cronometer. I struggled a lot when I first started tracking, but this makes it easier to stay motivated.

I still think Cronometer is better for those who care about their micronutrients. But if you find it overwhelming, fair enough. Just make sure whatever you choose aligns with your fitness goals, or it might backfire!

That's a good point about MFP being set in its ways. I was just getting started with meal tracking and now I feel like I need to relearn everything! I guess I'll have to see if I can get used to any of these new ones.

100% facts! I was so lost when I started running and trying to track everything. I tried Cronometer too, but it felt like I needed a degree in nutrition just to understand it. I've been using MyFitnessPal since then, but I can totally relate to the frustration with the paywall. Anyone else feel like it ruins the whole vibe?

Yo, I've been loving this new app called MacroFactor. I thought I'd miss MFP, but the customizations are wild! The adjustments it makes based on my inputs keep things fresh. Just need to find the right protein powder flavor now, lol.

I understand that. Nutrola took me a bit to get used to coming from MFP, but it's been worth it for me. Just wish the icon was more exciting, but whatever. As long as it works!

Honestly, if you want something that's less of a hassle, try using the barcode scanner on Nutrola. As a powerlifter, I find it saves time when I just scan my protein bars and shakes without inputting everything manually. Keeps my focus on lifting!

I used to be a big MFP fan, but man, their paywall situation is wild. Like, I understand apps gotta make money, but I don't wanna pay to scan my food, that's basic stuff. I switched to Nutrola for a couple of reasons: first, the photo log feature saves me time, I can just snap a pic instead of typing everything out. And honestly, the voice logging is clutch when I'm cooking. Definitely recommend checking it out if you're fed up with the paywalls.

I totally get your pain. I was on Lose It! too, and it was great until the paywall hit. Now I'm using Nutrola because the photo log feature is so easy for me as a busy mom. I can just snap a pic of my meals instead of typing everything out. It really saves time when I'm juggling three kids.

If you're feeling lost with all these apps, remember that tracking is just a tool to help you. Find what feels right for you, whether it's MFP or something else. Just keep moving forward, no matter the app.

As someone who runs a lot, I actually enjoy using Cronometer for its detailed micronutrient tracking. I get that it can feel overwhelming, but if you're serious about understanding what you're eating, it's worth the learning curve. Just give it time.

I hear you, switching apps can feel like a pain. But Nutrola's database is RD-verified, which I appreciate for the accuracy. After using MFP where everything was user-generated and full of typos, it feels refreshing to have reliable data.

Lol, the paywall on Lose It! is wild. Honestly, just go for something that suits your vibe. Nutrola's AI photo feature is like snapping a pic and moving on. I just want to eat pizza and keep my gains without getting too stressed about counting.

I totally agree about MFP being a hassle now with all the changes. It's great that some people are switching, but I'm just looking for something that lets me log my food without too much stress. I'll keep looking around.

i tried Cronometer too, and I felt overwhelmed. But have you thought about MyFitnessPal? I know it has issues, but my food list is so dialed in that I find it easier to navigate despite the paywall drama. Might be worth another look if you can get used to it.

I get where you're coming from, but switching to MFP isn't the worst thing. It's pretty robust, even with the paywall. I've been using it for years and honestly, the food database is so dialed in. I know it's annoying, but once you build your muscle memory around your typical meals, it becomes easier. If you've got specific meals you prep, just save them as favorites. Trust me, it'll feel less overwhelming over time.

Man, I can't even with these apps sometimes. I tried CalAI and it was hot trash, like it couldn't recognize my food half the time. If you're looking for something different, maybe give Nutrola a shot, I've seen some good reviews. But yeah, I'm sticking with MFP for now, it feels safer to me, and the food logging is just easy. Even if the ads are annoying sometimes, I'd rather deal with that than more uncertainty.

Ngl, I switched to Nutrola because I was tired of typing everything out too. The voice logging feature is a lifesaver for me as I'm always on the go with my workouts. I can just log while I'm in the car or at the gym. Super handy.

True, but I'm lowkey worried about missing a day and losing my streak on Nutrola. I get that it helps keep me accountable, but it also gives me anxiety sometimes, you know?

  - **macro_mama_99** (score 7, 2026-05-09T13:27:12.424+00:00)
Exactly! i think the key is to pick one that you feel comfortable with. You can always pivot later. I'm a mom and the ease of Nutrola's logging features has made my life so much easier. That's my jam.

MFP used to be my go-to, but that paywall hit hard. If you want to keep it simple, Nutrola's AI photo log is pretty solid! im just a guy who likes pizza, and typing everything felt tedious, so I get it. Now I snap and move on!

This. Finding what works for you is key. Just make sure whatever app you choose supports your goals, whether it's weight loss, muscle gain, or maintenance. I switched to MacroFactor for a reason, and I'm seeing the gains now.

I feel you, that paywall hit me hard too. I was using Lose It! for a while and it was going great until I realized I couldn't even track my meals without paying. I've switched to MacroFactor, and honestly, the algorithm just works for me. I can input my meals and it adjusts my targets based on my activity level, which is super handy. Plus, I love how it's not just about tracking calories but also focuses on macros, which is essential for my recomp journey.
